Hi! I have a 1990 JDM RHD 1jz Turbo R.I am wondering if there is any way to see if the tranny has stock clutch without dropping the tranny? and would oem toyota clutch will hold about 330ft-lb torque?
here is my setup
1jz-gte w/ trust cone filter, trust 3" cat-back, 3" down-pipe, high-flow cat, blitz bov, and boost controller......
with this setup, and if I run 1.2bar (~17psi), does the oem clutch able to hold that power if I floor the gas sddenly?
Thanks for all ur help, I tried to search, but only thing I found is that the r154 can hold alot of power w/ stronger clutch, but how bout oem?? no one ever mention it???
Note: I don't race, I just drive a bit over speed limit, but sometimes I like to play w/ 350z, G35 for fun........

The only way to see if a clutch is OE is to either A.) Have someone who's driven stock and modified clutches tell you or B.) pull the tranny.
Wlecome, BTW. :D
Edit: "The only stupid question is the one that is never asked"
Unless it's been answered 20 times already and you forgot to use the search function. LOL.
Usually aftermarket Clutches are painted bright colours so you could look in through an inspection cover and see.
Ehm, BlackMKIII, there are two inspection plates at the bottom of the bellhouse, and as most aftermarket clutches have these nice bright colours, like red and blue and stuff it's fairly easy to check if you have an oem clutch or not.
So, mr tuki, if it's grey, it most likely will be the oem clutch.
Oh and welcome.
edit: damn IJ, you beat me on a couple of seconds, lol!

im fairly certian it will hold 330ft/lbs. I had my 7M at 320 and never had any issues with the stock clutch

Save up and get an aftermarket clutch... Saves you a lot down the road

Yeah the stock clutch has single splines around the transmission input shaft but you probably wont be able to see it. I think the stock plate says AISIN on it somewhere....
