hks vpc issuse

I installed a hks vpc in a 89 supra, and when I did,I checked to make sure it worked before i installed the rest of the dash. When I checked it, the car was takin apart, it lite up when the key was in the on position. After installing the dash, it doesn't turn on when the key is in the on position, but when i turn the key back to the off position then it lights up and stays on.

Note: i don't have the check engine light.
I also can't start the car because the engine is not ready to be started yet.

ask questions if you need more info, I really need to get this problem fixed, I'm pretty sure its something simple.

It sounds like the Ground wire that you used not really a ground wire. you may have tapped into a wire that is live once the key is in the on position. Check your ground again.

Did you install it with a field harness or tap into the harness? Shouldn't have tapped any ground if you use a field harness.

I'll go over the wiring again and make sure. All you do is plug the hks harness into the factory harness there is no splicing or cutting of wires. Maybe the harness came loose, I'll check tomorrow.
