Well, after many years of aggrevation with starting issues, and too many repairs that didn't address the root cause... I did the unthinkable. CHEAT!:biglaugh:

Here is the basic picturestory to tell the tale... (I could, but some people don't like to read all that... )

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/starterconnection-1.jpg
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/starterconnection-2.jpg

^^^ The OEM trigger lead is replaced by this "insulated" blade-connector, which fits MORE SNUG and SECURE than the old connector...

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/1.jpg

I pulled stuff apart to make a mount after some shopping at the local auto store.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/2.jpg

Finally settled on this "low dollar" push-button. It had decent looking "features" (if such a thing exists...) and appeared robust enough for my needs, appropriate for the mount I had in mind, and keeping with my "subtle/stealth" theme... as part of the install objective.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/3.jpg

^^^ Once in, you still don't immediately notice the rubber button in the lighter socket area...

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/4.jpg

NEXT, I added the "cheeeezy" and obnoxiously obvious BIG, RED, JET-FIGHTER switch... uh... are you SERIOUS!!!???

.....BWAAAAAAAHHHHHHhhhhhh ha ha ha ha!!!:evil3:

STARTING THE CAR:

As with any other supra... insert your key into the ignition and rotate it to the "ON" position... (no need to turn further... and if you do, there will be no response, accepting the starter relay "click" in the right front kick panel...:icon_surp )

Ignition circuit is now "ACTIVE"!

CALL OUT "CHECK"!!!!!:bigthumb:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/5.jpg

^^^ Lift the COVER to the "JET FIGHTER SWITCH"!

"CHECK"!!!!!:bigthumb:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/6.jpg

^^^ ENERGIZE THE HOT-START-CIRCUIT!

"CHECK"!!!!!:bigthumb:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/7.jpg

PUSH BUTTON>>>>>>>> WHIRRR..WHIRRR...WHIRRR--VROOOOMMmmmmmm!

...ENGINE START! "CHECK"!!!!!:bigthumb:

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m26/crispone/8.jpg

^^^ HOT START CIRCUIT disengaged...

CHECK?????:ugh2:

...you get the picture...

So the key doesn't work?.......... :nono:

Way to add complexity to a simple operation Crisp ;)

That's so much extra work.
I should add a kill switch to the push start tho....
Ian some of us don't have the push start by choice... :D

LilMiss: thank you!

IJ: CORRECT! (It is a simple matter to allow BOTH circuits, and LEAVE the ignition start operational. Only use the JET-FIGHTER-REDUNDANCY for effect, etc...)

...at the same time, the singular condition that DOES allow the start now, is both functional, and deliberate in it's design... a sort of "puzzle", perhaps?

OK, okay... maybe more a SHOW!:drink1:

(Good for "stumping" would be thiefs or joy-riders... if such should ever arise. You KNOW in vehicles like these it becomes a TICKING TIME BOMB in the hands of someone "driving it like they stole' it...")

In reality, it's a quick "turn, flip, flip, push, flip"... a moment in the life of crisp.:boink:

JustAnotherVictim: Work? no. a RITUAL? ...aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

yes.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........

...next I'll have to add the CALENDAR feature for time-travel... and a FLUX CAPACITOR, of COURSE!

The stock Headlight washer button works awesome for a discrete push button start.

I'm far too anal about thing working the way they should to do that...

I pay heavily for things to work right, and I'm not made of money :3d_frown:

Perfectly understandable...

In my "crispcase"... there is an element of humor that must always accompany the serious side of this car. It is more for my therapy and pleasure than for any other purpose at all. "Paying heavily" is simply a "happenchance" that comes and goes with these cars like the tide to the moon... in this instance, I "solved" an issue that lingered as a nuisance for over half a dozen years costing hundreds of dollars... with a ten dollar button and caracature of a switch. MOST entertaining!:biglaugh:

...there will be plenty of time for the "paying-a-plenty" without making my starting routine mundane again, as it is by design.;)

I bought an all new wiring harness and CPS (plus a few sensors) to get rid of the hacked up, hardwired, and still needing a damn jiggle all the time to get it to to run right CPS nightmare...

Sure, I probably could have rewired it all and got it working, but I prefure a car being like legos and not requiring a soldering iron LOL

Didn't you thought of installing a S2000-style start button in place of the lighter? It's a real hype over here to install it in your car. (I won't install it:nono: )

Actually, I'm going to keep my eye out for something that looks nice and fits... there are "numerous" push-button setups on later model cars these days...

...on the OTHER hand, I kind of like the "crispcobbled" setup... functional, yet not so "obvious" as a starter button.:icon_wink

The stock Headlight washer button works awesome for a discrete push button start.

Any diagrams or tips or is it as straightforward as it seems?
