POWERSTEERING AND INSPECTION??

Hi everyone,

Im gonna take my car to be inspected soon and theres a problem, I think, with the P/S.........

When the car is at idle its very hard to turn, but when i give it a little throttle its fine??

I dont have time to change the pump or any big repair......is there some way I can make a emergency repair?? Just for now? :1zhelp:

I have just flush the system and clean the little filter on the bottom of the resevoir........and just for a second at when I startet the car the idle would rise while turning the steering wheel??

It never does this? Is this what im missing.........its gone again though:-(

one thing you can do is pressure test your power steering pump and also make sure your rack and pinion is not clogged up or leaking internallty (ie-seals, bela boots) because i have the same problem. i was able to confirm it with the rack because i had a 7m and converted to a 1jz with a known good pump and still the same problem. just get under there and poke at the oot genlty with a small screwdriver and see if anything leaks out.

Yeah sometimes it makes a low sound whining:-(
If I fx. hold it in an outer position.......

Could I Just turn the Dash pot for a slightly higher rpm while under inspection??

You have checked the fluid right? That could be why it's whining, but you've probably got a leak.

Yeah checked the fluid........and just replace the turbo so had a good look down by the pump, dont think its leaking........maybe the pump?

Yes plenty and its very good..........Im just changing from my smaller greddy wheel to the standard wheel because of the inspection..........Does your car raise the rpms at idle , when turning the wheel????
