Hey I have a 1986.5 supra and I was wondering if anyone has dropped a 7mgte in one. I know this year didn't come with a turbo edition so I was wondering how hard it would be to go from an N/A engine to a turbo engine.

If you have done this could you tell me what you had to change or add?

Thanks

the 86.5 has all the provisions for the turbo set up. it has the holes in the fender for the IC pipe, tapped holes to mount your oil cooler and intercooler...

toyota couldnt have made it easier for us.

my first mkiii was an 86.5 that i dropped the 7mgte into.

also, the 86.5 was the lightest mkiii so stock for stock youd be quicker than say, a 91 turbo model.

Thanks for the link and I didn't know the 86.5 was the lightest at 3500 pounds!!! That is pretty cool though. Thanks again.

I looked at that website and I don't have the time to do this swap, I might have the money, but not the time.

The w58 is a bad ass tranny. It's half the reason na supras are what they are.

Just because they don't have the top end you desire doesn't mean they max out slowly.

Enjoy your turbo's. I'll enjoy my na.

The major difference is in the rear end, not the transmission. The N/A has a 4.30:1 whereas the turbo has a 3.73:1 or 3.91:1.
