I dunno Tiss, I was thinking maybe it was put in a parts bin with something big and heavy and shart on top of it? I really dont know. This is now the 3rd set of junk cams in my possession. The last set were so scored that my machine shop just starred blankly at me when I asked if they were salvageable (those too came from a member here...Im kinda loosing faith).

So this time Im gonna go to the local junkyars and try to find some that are usable. I know of at least 2 NA's with the cams still in em.

Im just as pissed off at myself. Once again I get taught that everytime I try to save a few bucks it end up costing me more. You dont EVEN wanna know what my Simple little mhg - surface job ended up costing me in machine shop charges. Im actually to sick to even add up the build total so far.

Feel sorry for you WeezL, I had to go through the same thing but I went through 5 sets of camshafts and from all of the sets I was able to make a good set for my motor.

those cams look like they ran out of oil, then was thrown out a window at 80mph on the highway. Can't regrind those with out welding. Too much would have to be removed from the journal and would be way out on the oil clearance.

Hey guys, thanks for the offers and show of support. Just when it was needed to as my last two purchases from SM members have not gone so well.

I went back and looked at my original cams that came out of my first head and to be honest they are substantially better than either of the two sets Ive paid for (just so you know, the first set was bolted into a head so I couldnt see the journals until I got it home)

I really REALLY appreciate the nice offers, but at this point and time I am either going to use my originals or go get a set from the pick-a-part.

well, what I was really hoping is the person who sold these to me would see that this is unacceptable and make it good. Right now they are going on the wall of shame.


I used to have a collection of parts that I either broke, ordered wrong and couldnt send back or generally was ashamed that I had. I would put them up on my wall as a reminder of what NOT to do. Shipping problems aside, this deal went south pretty fast.

Lesson learned: stop trusting people on a car forum and start asking for better pictures and/or documentation on the parts I buy.


Edit: guys, you are making me want to cry. Ive never been one to take charity even when its not meant that way. Trust me, if I end up backed in a corner here and need some cams I'll let ya know FT, thanks man, REALLY.

I don't look at it as charity! I'm just happy as hell tonight to see you doing something with your car. Your posts have been pretty dreary lately, and I'm hoping you stay around here a long time. You've spent a shitload of money on Lucy, and I don't want to see you give up. I see that you have tried pretty hard, and still don't have any decent cams, and I just don't want you to have to spend money a 4th time to get it right.

Edit: I keep calling you my 3E5 Brother with my white car sig, but here's an update. My 3E5 is going in the paint shop next week to have the engine bay sprayed. Then I can buy a few goodies, and drop the motor in.

again this thread was meant to do two things: 1) publicly document what arrived for me today 2) give the sender a chance to see that not many people would be pleased if they got something like that sent to them.

Also, I want to be clear its not like I paid a great deal for these, but the simple fact that I DID for them and someone had the nerve to ship them like that.

When I clicked on this thread, I was expecting the usual minor journal scoring, but that is way beyond acceptable. Those belong in the 'please take this free shit away' pile.

I'm pretty certain I could dig up a set of cams in decent shape as well, let me know if you run into problems finding a set, I'll have a closer look.
