I know this has been done to convert over to turbo your car, but I an inquiring about doing this and staying N/A until I can purchase my turbo. Has anyone done this? I did it on my galant, using an eclipse turbo ecu and running N/A, wondering if it would be the same process or if i will run into any problems. I basically want to run N/A and eliminate my distributor

There are a couple problems you'd hit trying to run GTE electronics on the GE block.

..like knock sensors for starters. Not that this problem can't be overcome.. just mentioning it so people won't think GTE electronics are completely "plug n' play".
Precisely, also the much less aggressive timing curve... and there are more issues than just those two.

The knock sensor issue is the only real problem being that the turbo has two. Other then that, as long as everything is swapped over, it will be fine.
The fuel tune will not be any problem. It will not run pig rich or anything. Remember, the mass air sensor measures the air flow. When not under boost, a turbo motor is no different then an N/A motor.

When i got my aftermarket ecu the fools put the base map for 7mgte injectors which meant the fuel loads were really low, I couldn't go above 2000rpm without it detonating:nono: .

well my plan is to run on turbo injectors
as far as i see....besides the knock sensor issue...can i piggy back the 2 and have the wiring read the same knock sensor?
my list includes off a GTE
ECU
Wiring harness - Is it possible to hack the GE harness to rewire?
CPS
Ignitor
Coilpacks
440c Injectors
Do i need to swap AFMs?
I was supposed to get a 89 GTE engine for $300 bucks, which would have been a great donor, but the guy sold it :(

Yes, you'll need to swap the AFM as well, unless you go with a piggyback to convert to a different type of metering.

Meh if you wanna go that far just go full aftermarket ecu with an inbuilt map sensor, no piggy backs or safc corner cutting, and leaves alot more room for future mods when you go turbo.

i actually want to get it up and running on stock electronics first...lower price range, dont have much money for this project, just taking it as it goes. Eventually once i'm running and decide i want to go for more power, i will upgrade, right now my goal is at least 350whp. I dont really wanna go higher because this is also my daily driver.
Putting a MAP Sensor was just an idea....is it worth upgrading to the Lexus AFM or would the stock 7mGTE AFM be fine?

i would just wait until you have your turbo......you are risking runing very rich and overflowing your n/a

Again, you will not run rich... When a turbo is not spooling and making positive pressure in the intake, the motor is N/A even though the turbo is on it. Again, the AFM reads the amount of flow and based on the AFM signal (along with other perameters and signals), the computer determines the fuel from a look up table. The only way that you can get a rich or lean condition if all correct components are there and working correctly is by not having the correct injectors that the system is tuned for. Smaller injectors will cause lean condition and larger will cause rich.
Now if it was a MAP (speed/density) based system, then yes you could run into problems and the problem would actually be a lean condition not rich. Thats the nice part of a MAS type system is that if changes are made that cause a change in air flow then to a point, the system will still provide the correct AFR.
The only basic operating differance between the GE and the GTE engine managment systems is that the GTE system is designed to handle higher airflow rates then the GE system for when the turbo comes online and provides the motor with more airflow.

So...would i need to run the 440cc injectors or the stock NA injectors? witha turbo ecu it would look for the 440cc injectors correct?
