GZ20 So Cal Owner!!

HeyGuys,

Just found this site and thought that I would say Hi! I'm new to the Toyota world, normally i play with Mitsu's & Nissans.
I just got a 1991 JDM RHD GZ20 2.0 TT limited and i thought that since some supras came with 1ggte's that i'd join this forums in the hopes that some of you either have parts or tech knowlege of this car and enigne stateside. So I'm here just saying howzit!

Well here is the short list of what i have already laying around from my other projects that are going on this car.

Blitz SBC spec R ( JDM limited edition silver with blue)
Blitz dd turbo timer
Blitz BOV
apexi AFC NEO ( not sure if I gonna use this)
HKS F-con (bought for the 1GGTE for $60 off yahoo.co.jp!)
HKS filter
spark plugs
MSD wires
NRG FPR
NRG catch can
NRG Grounding kit
Walbro 255 fuel pump

I bought a Blitz STS for the TEMS off yahoo JP but after I got it I realized that I don't need it. Oh well I'll just sell it.

Thats all i can think of off the top of my head. I going to do all this then it'll be at SR motorcars for a dyno run and tune.

As for future plans:

5 Spd conversion ( sorceing parts as we speak)
Upgrade the FMIC
Downpipe
Exhaust
Blitz Bag turbos
Injectors
Then full suspension from coilovers to all new suspension arms
You know the common stuff

I'm trying to keep the car with Twins for now, It's a rare car here so I figuire just make it nice and not go to extreme with it. It'll be a nice weekend show car just optimize what it already has.

i'd keep it stock, but i'd clean up the engine bay with polishing/ceramic chrome, but thats just me.

no 1J this car is rare enough here that I'm just gonna keep it lightly modified. stick with the twins but otherwise keep it in factory form. just gonna play with the suspension and get a good tune out of it. the only major thing is it's an auto. which I don't mind especially the traffic here in Cali but I really want a 5 spd conversion. so I'm still thinking about it. thanks again for the comments guys

personnally i wouldnt keep the 1g i'd opt for a 7mgte or a jz series and thats only because the 1g engine is rare and have little exp with it heh

Nah too common, the whole point of buying this car is that not everyone has one or even knows what it is. besides I have another spare 1G-GTEU for this car.

the 1g uses the w58 if im not mistaken, and there's PLENTY of w58's around..

^^Thanks but even though the engine still uses a w58 i still have to find a bellhouseing, flywheel, clutch and driveshaft for it. thats whats going to be difficult

^^ it's not yet, I'm registering it under my company as a show car. thats the only way i know how, well only legal & legit way. If anyone else knows how in Cali let me know.

As for your car I don't think you can bring it over and have it legalized in California anyway. there are other ways around it in Arizona or Florida, whre you going to be moving to? State? I'm still looking into it, You can bring it here which isn't that hard but getting it legal to drive on the road is a different story. luckly before I even bought the car I started my own company, nothing big just internet stuff but since I fully licenced I'm claiming it as a show car. still not done yet though so I'll still have to see if it works. if you need any help PM me i'll give all the limited information that I have

I know. Problem is all the turbo MK3's I've found in and around the Portland area have like at least 150K miles on them, aren't that nice and the jackoff owners still want 6K USD or more for them. I've heard estimates of around 10K or so to get my car US road legal and it has only 128K kilomters on it.

well if your gonna part it let me know what i can get from you reguarding a 5 spd swap and and other goodies you might have on your 1G. I want to tell you to keep it and bring it back but that depends on your buget. I say get as much parts as you can and bring them back with you and either sell it or put them on your new car that way you will always have a little peice of your car with you. But also check with your states laws. see I can't get a GZ20 here legelized because the chassie was never sold in the US but I know you can get a supra done, it just comes down to the motor and if they hae any requirements such as smog. I know in Hawaii, where I'm from, all they have is safty check which means there is no smog but you can't modify your suspension. Do some more reaserch before you send your car to the jucnk yard. also you have any pics of your car??

Kool thing happend last night, i was talking with a friend about the car and he told his boss about my car and they now want to use it in an upcomming movie!! not sure anymore details but I have to meet with him next week! I'll give you more info when I get it! WHOO HOOO Movie Star status!!lol
