UPDATES: Page 4 & 5 bodywork

This story goes back to Febuary 1, 2007 when around 8:30pm my dad was driving home on a very rainy night and something caused him to hit a tree and roll my Supra. My dad was pronounced dead on the scene, but was instead in critical condtion at the hospital. He had some major head wounds and was brusied up bad with possible health risks (according to the first doctor): major blood loss, brain injuries, broken spine, broken arm and rib bones, that is what the doctors expected. After further inspection he only had major cuts on his head and a lot of bruises. He walked away 2 days later and recovered over the next two weeks.

2 weeks preceding the accident Jake (Reign Maker) offers me a hell of a deal on 91 Supra turbo. It was missing some interior pieces and had a bhg, also some other little things here and there but such a deal, this baby had abs, air bag, clean straight body, and a few little performance mods to go along with it, thanks you so much Jake. I took the offer, hell the car even cranked up though Jake said he couldn't get it started recently once we put a jumper box on it.

Now to the present, I have gotten the motors out of both cars as well as the trannys. I am selling all the salvagable parts in the Parts For Sale section. I am going to still use the motor out of my wrecked car which was still good after the accident. And today I picked up one of the first few pieces to my build.

HERE ARE THE PLANS:
- Paint whole car, including engine bay with a 04 WRX black paint with gold flake.
- Today 3-10-07 I picked up my new body panels thanks to Rakkasan :) Greddy bumper, Bomex sides and rears
- Engine wise not many more mods due to the fact that the motor I'm using out of the wrecked car is a freshly built (with some forged rods and pistons previous owner forgot which brand but they were under further inspection of the block)
- FFIM from Ron R and I will be polishing it as well as many other engine parts
- Cleaning up engine bay removing EGR and all unnecessary vacuum lines and such but still retaining a/c and p/s
- Driftmotion intercooler piping kit and 4 row intercooler
- My 62-1 had been rebuilt but I have not yet felt it when tuned :)
- 18" chrome Work Equips or Blitz Techno Speed Z1's in gold
- Stainless lines
- Black and polished engine bay
- New Toyota hoses and gaskets etc.
- JDM tails
- Defi gauges
- Alpine with one 12" sub
- Clear timing cover

Build in Progress now (mines the red):

Yeah, my wife just told me about it. Sorry about that. It was in the front when I first put our stuff in storage, but I had to dig into the back just before I left & I guess I burried it. Completely my fault. Many thanks to you and your dad for helping my father-in-law get it out & loading everything back up. I appologize again...

Well today I started removing the random stuff in the engine bay (wiper motor, abs, all that stuff) and getting it prepped for paint, looks like that will take up most of the week, and then I'll be on to order that Ron R manifold along with intercooler and the piping. Btw a quick question I am only running the 62-1 right now but plan to upgrade to like a pt67 or pt71 eventually, should I got with the 2.5" or 3" ic piping?

Right on Jeffy! I cant wait to see what you do with this... I feel kinda bonded to this because I was the foster daddy of your new shell for quite a while... So, Im definately going to keep an eye on this...

Jeff, yur a good kid, Im really proud of you, and it was great to meet you... Next time we meet, I hope we're both up and runnin and our projects done...

Jake

BTW: since yur goin with a FFI, and using a massive throttle body, the Q45 Im guessing, then I would say go with 3" piping... I may have some left over when Im done plumbing, if I do, its yours...

What kind of exhaust manifold are you going to use for your turbo set up?

I'm not sure what manifold I have I bought it with the car and he didn't know what it was either. Does not appear to be the ss auto chrome one though. If anyone knows what it is let me know too hhaha, but I will be sticking with this manifold none the less.

Doward
March 22nd, 2007, 07:08 PM
It looked to me like an SSAC, version 2. Toss up some pics of it! Someone here is bound to know for certain :)

Decide what turbo you plan on running, then what boost level, and rpm are you going to be spinning the motor to. I'd be happy to help optimize your piping size (I'm feeling it'll be 2.75" ;))

:D It'd be nice if I had a fast MKIII like Jake and Jeff will have!hehehehe fix'd... ;)

(I'm feeling it'll be 2.75" ;))wrong-o... 3"... Big brother jake will have some left overs for Jeff... I think 3" will be great for his 62-1, especially if he goes with the same IC as me...

Jeff, you need anything, you call me, you have my number kid... Keep up the good work... Yur car is going to be dope as hell...

Doward
March 22nd, 2007, 09:36 PM
Well, depending on the rpm/boost he runs, peak velocity and flow might be a little under 3.0... but hey, those will be the little things I freak out about - Generally, the bigger the better :evil2:

Get those pics, Jeff!

You keep freakin out yur gunna be an insomniac D... lol... I thought IIIII was anal, yur killin me with the details bro... hahaha...

anywho...

Yur talking about IC piping right? If so, that Tnetic turbo will easily stuff those three inch pipes... Less restriction, quicker throttle response, especially going with a 3.5" throttle body and a ffi... I dunno if I would do 3" on a CT26, but I had 2.5", and on my 60-1, I had 2.75"... Besides, how can you turn down free 3" manderal bent aluminum pipe? ;)

7Mboost
March 23rd, 2007, 04:04 PM
Wow so I figured out the rear cloth seats from my 89 stick out on the top back part of the seating and I don't know if there is a way to fix it? And I think I'm gonna get the 3" so when I go bigger later i know it'll be enough, and I'll probably get the driftmotion kit Jake so you can just save the piping they have a great deal goin on there.

Today I put the rear seats in till I encountered the fit problem. But I did get the wrecked Supra pieces all out and goin to its deathyard, after 5 weeks of stripped it......

Tomorrow I'm gonna get the driver seat in (because the battery is disconnected I have to hook up one to move the seat forward to get the bolts out) and then the panels in the back next to the back seats, and finish getting everything out the engine bay and start with the prep. Its goin slow now but I will speed way up now that I have the junk car out of here.

PICS COMING CHILL :)

Ok so I have been on a slow start so the engine bay is stripped so tomorrow I will finish prepping it getting it ready for paint. I still need to remove my stock intake mani and send it in for the new Ron R custom one. Its been a slow start but that's where I'm at. Also they will be starting installing the new body pieces! woot woot. Pics soon, sharing a camera sucks....

Been slow till about last week. Honestly nothing but about 2 hours of engine bay cleaning was done up till last week, when I decided to not play Spring football due to, too many car projects/sell. So I've been helping at the body shop trying to speed up the process, and I'll get pics of it tomorrow but, I have the fenders, hood, trim, wing, and door panels off, door floor trim off.

Tomorrow the manifold will be sent out like I've been meaning to do for the past month. And I have started the polishing and it is the only pictures I have due to the car not being at my house. But its goin much faster now.

About an hours worth of prepping

LOL @ Garage full of Supra. You got a 7M crank lying around, by any chance? ;)

So where'd you end up sending it to get painted? Or are you tackling that yourself?

Should be awesome when it is done :D

7Mboost
May 13th, 2007, 09:24 PM
A place called AutoFX in Gainesville hidden behind the tree a nice shop behind a guy's house, straight across from the Millhopper Publix, I've known the guy a while and seen a few of his jobs, he is very detailed and knows what I want and knows about changing colors on cars, where to put paint, whats needed to be removed etc. He does a lot of old car FULL paint jobs, stripped of everything and paint in the interior, an it looks good. But I'm trying to speed up my car for the Orlando Supra Meet, I'm gonna go all out for the next 1.5 months and try to get it done.

AS FOR THE CRANK, I don't have a good one man sorry, but actually the car we have down at the shop may and if the guy ever gets the motor over here and doesn't want his 7m I can get you his 7m crank. :)

Doward
May 13th, 2007, 09:58 PM

Doward, what's your reason for wanting the 7M crank? Because the balancers?

Doward
May 14th, 2007, 09:15 AM
Yep. Less force acting on the crankshaft due to more uniform balancing. I'm building this to spin 7200rpm all day long. But hey, let's not hijack Jeff's thread ;)

Supraholics

Yep. Less force acting on the crankshaft due to more uniform balancing. I'm building this to spin 7200rpm all day long. But hey, let's not hijack Jeff's thread ;)A 6M will spin 7200 easy... Rev limit isnt so much in the crank as it is in the head... If you have a balance the 6M, like I have, then I see no reason you cant spin it that high...

Jeff get movin man, we got a deadline to meet, lol...

Doward
May 14th, 2007, 05:07 PM
It's due to torsional vibration. The 6M has inherently more than the 7M.

I'm not building this motor to spin up to 7200rpm down a 1/4 mile. I want to be able to hold 7200rpm all day long.

6M is in raised font on the crank.

Oh jeez. Not having a 7M crank, I wouldn't know :D

If nothing else, I will hit the U-pull-it on Saturday, and get to work stripping the crank out of that Cressida. I'm not looking forward to trying to bust that balancer bolt loose, with only hand tools :3d_frown:

Ok so I've been slow and went on vacation for a week so not much done but recieving parts, putting in the rear seats, retaping and zip-tieing wiring to make it cleaner, and deciding to paint some of the interior under the rear carpet black and also take the engine apart and paint the block, also WANTING to polish some more stuff but I hate doing it, it doesn't turn out how I like it so if anyone knows a cheap polisher I may use him.

(tomorrow) :)

BTW I have a question, what injectors can I use to work with RC clips, cause I'm gonna go bigger.

Doward
July 26th, 2007, 07:59 AM
Are the RC clips square? (Well, rectangular) - if so, you can use pretty much any GM style injector - I'll be using a set of Bosch 680cc injectors, myself.

Doward: So like PTE, Denso, Delphi, any other brands I should stay away from besides Venom? And it won't hurt running 680's or 720's even though I'm only on the 62-1 right now, for like low boost settings?

suprahooked: WHY!??!?! :) I think looking at cars and thinking of how easy it will be to pick up girls in my finished Supra is the main thing that keeps me on this project :) that and going through all the gears right outta my dad's shop torward the end of main street. :)

Ahhh, to be young... And yeah, Im sure you wont have trouble gettin da' ladeez with this clean sup! Jeez, i wish I had a ride that nice when I was 16... :D I had a bug, meh, it was nice, but no chick magnet, lol...

As for the injectors, you can go larger, the injectors run on a cycle, its not like you'll be dumping 720cc's in everytime you tap the gas... Just make sure whatever engine management you go with can work with injectors that big... The main reason I went with the AEM was because I couldnt find any other EMS that could handle 1000cc injectors... I would have LOVED to stick with a piggy back set up and kept my factory ECU, but I couldnt... Unless there is a set up out there that can control injectors of that size, I just havent heard of it...

7Mboost
July 26th, 2007, 08:45 PM

ha - that little block that goes into Junction Block No 2 (the main under hood fuse section) - I want to get that off the NA, if that's ok - want to modify it to fit in the empty slot of my fuse block, to run the wiring of the headlights all stock like!

Doward
October 17th, 2007, 05:16 AM
I think it'll be close, but it should work. Just ensure that your IC pipe has very little movement right there (hell, I'd even bolt it in place, top and bottom of the frame rail, and use those hump silicone couplers to allow for vibration and such)

How much I just need about a 1 foot piece of it, otherwise I'm gonna find a way to bend it without compromising the the air flow.

TODAY: Wet sanded targa down ready for paint, door handles and started on the fender, keep in mind I only have about 3 hours a day to get down to the body shop with class and things so it's good progress in my mind.

Should be putting some paint on some small pieces tomorrow!

7Mboost
October 26th, 2007, 11:34 PM
Yup, coming around a wet turn going fast but nothing crazy....I thought. I turn the front end grabs and the rear slides (fwd wtf), no e brake no braking through the turn nothing. So I countersteer appropriatley, no use its in a straight sideways slide, I lock up the brakes and hold on. I ended up a curb and the rear slid into a tree. The damage is fixable in a weekend but its definatley a setback.

Cliffs: (My DD not Supra) Bad approach angle?, wet road, shitty tires up a curb into tree.

Doward
October 26th, 2007, 11:58 PM
 You kids and your FWD ;)

Can't say too much tho - got rid of the Miata and bought the wife a Saturn Ion Redline. FWD does suck, even when it's supercharged!

Don't you hate taking time away from the Supra, to work on your DD, though? Glad to hear you're ok!

7Mboost
October 27th, 2007, 12:12 AM
I'm just glad it was a FREE car and yes glad I'm ok it could've been down in a ditch if not for that tree. If it wasn't worth anything I wouldn't even take the time to fix it lol. This car grabs so strong in the front and it showed, not to mention its such a short car if you don't counter correct in less than a split second and have a good grasp with the front tires your sliding.

The Ion any good? I heard they were fun.

Haha, its a fun beater no tourque steer (not enough power). Also great to have completely stock car, as last night reminds me. Last night I was spectating a few races on a local highway, among all the modified cars I sit in my stock Integra not to be profiled if something happens. Well to my surprise after 1 run, I see people running to their cars OH SHIT. I look over the hills I see lights, everyone is gone. The hill is ~1 mile and half away so people were goin. I haul ass turn on an offroad and go down a few miles and pull into a gas station to call my friends make sure they got out or what happened. It was an AMBULANCE! lol

About running the 3" IC piping up between the rad and motor, it's VERY close, but it's possible. I did it on my car, with stock fans and rad. There's literally millimetres of clearance between the pipe and my A/C pulley, but it fits. Don't have to relocate the battery that way either.

I'll have to post some pics tonight.
