We have any experts here on running a VPC setup with BIG boost/high HP? I'm talking 600 +...

not sure what you're looking for. it has been done....no different than running a VPC+SAFC @ 300 rwhp.
IMNSHO, i think it's retarded. if you're shooting for more than 500 rwhp, get a standalone. the gains from the switch are enough in and of themselves to warrant the switch...

If only it were that easy...

it is.
it might help if you would outline the problems you are having....

Not having any problems with the car.. Car runs beautifully; just problems with my FUNDAGe!
VPC = 350
AEM + Tuning = 2700...

true, but how much is your engine worth?
IMNSHO, anything past 500 rwhp you should be considering standalone...

Im with Dr.J....weve done a VPC/AFC to 630whp (HiPsic car before the AEM) and it was past the point of diminishing returns. Tuneability suffered, and it wasnt very well-mannered. I agree to save up for somethign a little more sophisticated for bigger power.

Hmm...
You are very correct; but until I can save the money.. Lets keep this thread open for once I get my turbo back and get the VPC up and running. I'm sure I'll have some questions about it...
I'm not looking to run the VPC/AFC setup for too long, just long enough for me to save. I catch on to most things fairly quickly so this shouldn't be too hard, there are always just a couple bumps in the road..

again, i'm unsure where the problem is- VPC->SAFC->ECU. tune it properly w/a WB....and you're done.
if you're only going to be running it for a little while, use your head and don't crank the boost....that won't end well.

SO when wireing the VPC in, does it need to be wired before or after the AFC wires?

as stated above, you want the SAFC after the ECU because the VPC's output is fairly "dirty".....the SAFC seems to do a good job of cleaning it up.

See if this helps. Thank Bondango (http://www.supramania.com/forums/member.php?u=1448), he sent it to me in a pm some time back.

Hmm... This is looking more complicated than the afc/avcr installs..
Where do I get this resister? And then I just cut the two wires and put the resister in the middle, connecting them?
Interesting...

heh. no more complicated than any other install. the point of that diagram is for someone who doesn't have the VPC wiring harness (it was PnP).
get the resistor @ radio shack.
yup, you can simply cut the 2 wires and solder it in....probably best to do that @ the ECU as well.

What does it mean by VPC dip settings, as seen on that picture on the right? And yes, the VPC does come with a harness for specific vehicle.. but the one I bought was for an 87-88 and the car it's going into is a late 89~

the VPC is a generic device, one that can be used in multiple vehicles. its input/output is configured via DIP switches, located inside the case.
since you don't have the proper harness for your car, you'll need to hard wire, as shown above....or source the proper harness.

I've been running VPC/AFC for awhile now, I run 1.4bar on the street with no problems. Yes I agree the VPC isn't the greatest piggy back out there, this thing was made in the late 80's early 90's. I will evenually switch to a MaftPro, cause I can't afford an AEM stand alone. But I'll be running the VPC/AFC as long as I can.

Those two don't go together. Before you push big boost, you need the supporting mods (and prolly a built engine, depending on how much boost), which will run the price tag up just as high, unless lifespan has no meaning to you.
(Power) divided by (price of that power) equals (wear-and-tear factor)^2

The motor is fully built... 1mm OS valves; ferrea valve train, JE pistons... ARP and what not.. Maybe you should check my build thread before you comment?

Do I need to change the afc from karmen to something else when running the vpc?

as stated in numerous other places, it depends on how you wire it. again, the VPC's OUTPUT is the KV signal the ECU expects....if you use the SAFC to intercept and modify that signal, then obviously the SAFC needs to be set to karmen.
