I'm not taking credit for this mod, but I'm going to make it available because I think it's a nice upgrade. Mine uses a 45 deg with a swivel so it always fits purfect and is easy to install. It will be assembled and ready to put on the engine, the AN adaptors for the block and the pump are included. $60 plus shipping. I'll add it to the website tonight.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but what advantage is this over teh stock pipe? is this just bigger?
:off topic: aaron I will be sending out that 90* bend coupler after work on friday. thanks for teh fast shipping.

iirc the stock tube is crush bent and could hinder oil flow. This is just one step in making your 7m's oiling system more reliable.

thanks, once I get ready to shim the pump I have to get one of these.

That's the word on the street, and also that the banjo fitting on the stock pipe is not good for smooth flow either. The AN fittings are "full flow" with a smooth bend, which is better then a banjo.

Were also looking into selling new Toyota 7M-GTE oil pumps which are modified to improve pressure and flow, we have a good friend who is a killer machininst and he is talking about wonderful things with flow charts to back it up.

Hell, for a measly $60 this is worth ordering just to have available the next time I pull the engine. This and your power steering line both!

I have no idea yet, we'll get a pump over to him and see what he can do. I'm not sure what he would do and how much it would cost.

I heard of there being problems running a stainless steel braided line in the oil pan. I'm not sure what the problem would be but has anyone heard anything similar or is it just a bunch of nothing? I'm looking into getting one of these btw.

well, we sell hydralic hosing and fittings at the store where i work. the rep told me that the outside was the same as the inside(ok, maybe not for ss braided hose) so if it can resist heat and oil on the inside, then it can resist heat and oil on the outside. reference:weatherhead sales rep
bigaaron
03-06-2007, 06:42 PM
I did inquire about that, and it is not a problem. The hose can take more heat and pressure then it will ever see in this application. Stainless braid will also not have any bad effects being in the oil.

Exactly.
I BELIEVE I was one of the first if not THE first for this modification. At least documented by myself and Flybyux2.
heres some pics of when i did mine:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/lamplitersniper/oilmod2.jpg
I have been running this modification for approximately 2 years+ and have zero negative about it. Car runs perfectly and oil pressure is great. There have been no SS shards or anything coming out of my oil or filter etc.
Great job aaron on getting these "mass" produced and supplying them. The headache myself and chris went through finding all the parts that will work was not fun. Also it was at or ABOVE the $60 price tag you have on these.
Wonderful job. I think my friend will be ordering one rather then piecing it together for more $$ lol.

I read your pm and I looked for the origional paypal. I could have sworn we shipped it but I can't find any tracking info, and you would have it already by now. The only thing I can think of why we may have missed it was because your paypal had no address or contact info, so it didn't have the paypal shipping option next to it in my paypal history, which is how I keep track of the paypal orders. I sincerely apologize, and I'll give you a $20 refund and ship it Monday morning if you still want the hose, or I will refund you in full immediately.

The oil pump can only be accessed by removing the oil pan. I wouldn't recommend installing this unless you already have the pan off during a rebuild, because it's much too much work just for that.

Yes, I have picked up 3 already. Two went on customer engine builds at the shop, and one is for my engine. The pumps will be $340, I can order one and have it in a week or so.

just wondering if the bigger crossover line is a real big benefit when the pickup is still smaller diameter, crush-bent?
bigaaron

The pickup is crush bent, but it's bigger diameter then the pressure side.

I have a few of the modified pumps in stock. It is blueprinted and the internals are moly coated. The moly coating tightens up the clearances between the gears in the pump, which creates better oil pressure at low rpm, and increased oil flow capability at high rpm. There is a small 5mm (iirc) shim in the spring also. On my engine I noticed a definite difference in oil pressure at low rpm, even though I switched to 10-40 rather then the 20-50 I used to run, and the oil pressure rose faster at start up and when I reved the engine. I don't have actual pressure numbers, but I knew well what the pressure used to look like on my stock gauge, and there was a difference for sure. If my stock gauge is anywhere near correct, it was very close to the 10psi per 1k rpm that everyone wants to see. It's $325 for the pump, which is a brand new Aisin pump from Toyota to start with.

I know the hose part is "oil safe" i am guessing. but in reality what is the life span of the hose part? It seams since it will have oil in and around it the hose wouldn’t last long. What about a hard line?

SWEET!! I like to hear that. Did it help out your "low pressure high volume" 7m motor? well worth the $60?

Aaron, im working on installing my oil line and im having an issue, on the side where the line connects to the block with a fitting. Well the issue, is when i go to tighten the fitting it only goes in maybe two threads, and it cuts into the threads of the fitting. it appears to be the right size diameter, but wrong threads maybe? Ill get some pics tonight, and im just being iffy about it b/c i had an autometer oil pressure sending unit adapter, break off in the block today, havent had a good day:3d_frown:.
but on a good note, your 7/16" stud kit kicks ass! im working on pics of that when im finshed.

It is not the wrong fitting, it's pipe thread, it is supposed to be tapered. The stock one is the same way, it is not supposed to go in all the way, only until it is tight. The fitting with straight thread goes into the pump and uses the original copper crush washer.

i couldn't get the pan on no matter what i did. i had to finish the build with the stock hardline. anyone else have that problem?

I have installed several myself with no problem.
Nothing a small dent made with a hammer wouldn't solve in your case though.
Just see where it's making contact and make some clearance there.

Do you or anyone else rember who this came from? There use to be a thread about upgrading you whole oil system. From pump to cooler to filter mount. It was a great thread and ive been trying to find it.

I took that picture a few years ago.
I don't remember the exact name of the thread, it was something like "7m oil system upgrades"

It's pipe thread, it's tapered and tightens as you turn it. It should probably go in about 3 turns or so, don't try to thread it all the way in.
