Jdm 7mgte swap

I'm looking into buying a jdm turbo motor for my n/a.I've been told that those motors just sit around until bought.What would be recommended on replacing gaskets like a mhg, waterpump, oil pan, etc.I don't want to just buy a motor with unknown miles put it in and have to replace something that could of been replaced when it was out of the car.Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks.

Biggest thing about buying a "JDM" Engine is the actual upkeep on the engine itself. I got my N/A engine from a online supplier that i had heard of from alot of people. I did a HG, Head Studs and while i was there i saw that there was still swhirl marks in the Cyls. from the factory. I also changed the Water pump, Distributor cap (N/A), Oil pan and EVERY GASKET that was on that engine. I also changed the Timing belt and tensioner w/spring. Make sure you get a FULL Gasket set instead of a head gasket set...i made that mistake but you learn from them. I am doing a rebuild with a JDM engine myself. Good Luck with your swap.

heard good things about jarco... or just check the buy/sell section for your best bet. i would rather buy a 7m with rodknock and rebuild it then buy a jdm that COULD have rodknock. hell its the same cost almost. (engine wise)

Thats true what Loki said. It's almost the same thing.....but if you want to have a running engine then go with something online. If your looking for BIG HP numbers then get one with a rodknock or BHG and rebuild it from there. JarCo is where i got my engine from, and a friend of mine got her 1jz clip from them also. As i said before......research a company and shop around before jumping into a "Great deal" if it sounds too good to be true. Most of the time it is. Good Luck

i've heard good things about Jarco too. I got mine from Soshin USA and so far it looks great. It's super clean and the guys were really nice too. I talked to Roger Largo every time I called in sales.

new oil pressure sender, new rear main seal, install EGR, do some oil mods in the oiling issue sticky, oil pan gasket, get a 1jz instead: things I wish I had done the first time.

I recently bought a 86.5 n/t Supra, I want to swap with the 7MGTE. I am trying to find a turbo 87-92 so I can pull everything instead of buying all new parts. Will the swap work with each year 87-92 if I can get a car with everything needed for swap (ECU, fuel pump, cradle, and whatever else is needed)? I had also considered putting a turbo on the 7MGE and building up the motor, any thoughts on that? I wonder which will be more money and headache.
