I'm not sure if my timing adjustment explaination made enough sense in the video :biglaugh: but it's really easy.
1) set the static timing to "fixed" in the trims options of the stinger software.
2) put the cps right in the middle of the adjustment range
3) start the engine and use a timing light to adjust cps so the timing mark on the pulley is at 10 Deg on the timing cover.
4) set the static timing in the stinger software to 10 Deg btcd.

If it had been the discovery channel Joe would have been humping your engine again.........:biglaugh:
Good video Aaron. I don't think I could get away with saying the word "stoked" since I'm from Bama. I may end up going with your 1jz stinger in the near future.............lol

Here's the full manual for the Stinger, it's pretty complete, but if you have questions feel free to ask.

Here's a in car video with the Stinger:
www.driftmotion.com/7mgte_stinger_base_tune.wmv
In the video my tach is a little off, I need to wire the Stinger tach output to the stock tach. Since the ignitor inputs are pulsed differently, the ignitors tach output is different. The redline was set to 7.5k with the soft rev limiter, with a 7.8k hard rev limit.

very nice..... i wish my car pulled to 7.5k....... i also wish i had an 89+ so i could run a stinger with a harness. oh well you can't have everything

Can't you adjust the MHz for the stinger output? I saw that in the software. Will that adjust for the off RPM's using the stock tach?

Yes, I just need to wire an aux output wire set for tach output from the Stinger to the stock tach. Right now the tach signal is coming from the stock ignitor, but it affects the igf output from the ignitor when it doesn't receive an input just like the stock ecu. We saw on the dyno and the Stinger software that it didn't match what the stock tach was showing.

So? whats the update? Any harnesses made for the 7M? Will they work on pre89?
bigaaron
02-20-2007, 10:44 PM
No pre '89 in the works, you'll have to modify and install an 89+ harness or wire in the standalone yourself. As for the harnesses, I have not made any more progress quite yet, they want a whole different wiring diagram to make the harnesses off of, and I just have not had the time.

Aaron, I will be installing the stinger on my pre-89 7M harness to run my 2JZGE, is there any way you can provide a diagram/list of which wires go into the stock harness, and where to make installation easier?

Since I have been unable to get the harnesses ready for sale we will be offering the Stinger at a discount. We will have them on the website for $850. At this price I will not be able to offer telephone tech support. It will be the ecu and the unterminated harness, plus the serial cable and software. I have the Bosch wideband sensor available for it for $210. I can give you the basemaps and sensor calibration files I have made so far.

Is the wideband sensor necessary to get the stinger up and running? Or is it functional with a narrowband O2? I think you'll be getting my order this week.
Also.. does the stinger come with a harness for the ITA sensor, or is that incorporated into the factory wiring harness.
The ITA is not included, correct?

Okay, I answered a lot of my own questions by reading though the manual.
Do I have to PM you for the sensor? I didn't see it listed on the website.
bigaaron
03-05-2007, 01:37 PM
I'll add the sensor to the website today, you just wire it into 12v and ground, and the two wideband input wires on the Stinger.
