I think the 9.xx car was gutted and had a lot of lipo surgery.

Most of the cars with 1jz's are still fat, hey it's an MK3...

this is weak i was looking forward towards 10s-9s come on fellas we all really have to step it up if we want jza80s to recognize us as a threat. Please dont tell me that i have to do this alone. As much as I like the 1jz, I'm not putting one in a drag car, sorry.

It's like drag racing a WRX or a Civic.........WHY?

It's not what the engine or car will be best at, why waste your time and money?

The 1jz would be better for a drift car, or a track car.

Dave's ~300whp 1jz was pulling about 2 car lengths on the freeway before my 420whp 7m spooled up. Where the 1jz shines is throttle response and nice powerband with the right turbo.

I just ramble on sometimes :blah: , don't worry too much

Many others have gone much faster all the 1/4's up top are stock turbo 1/4's which is pretty good.

I want to say that anything can be fast if you have the money. I here stories of 8 and 9 hundred hp 1jz all day in florida. Haven't seen them but yes I do believe it. I have no choice I already brought my 1j. And wether it's 1j,2j,or 7m 900hp is fast. I believe that the 1j will make up it's displacement in rev.

go to www1jz747.com.au and on my home page there is a video of my 10.1 et pass at 137 mph on a internally standard 1jzgte with 194000k's on the clock. no head work, big turbo, injectors, ecu tricked up box. 3440 pounds on radials.

I pm jawsgear. He said that because of the auto tranny it is a 20% to25% lost in power. The car is around 500hp with this tranny. He said if he had a getrag or a r154 that the car would make 700-750hp.

can't verify it , but a friend of mine claims he was @ orlando speedway a couple of weeks ago and saw a guy who had a 1jzgte in a 280zx. I don't know what was done to the engine, but he claimed it did 8.7 @153 in the 1/4

I like the 1jz and am torn to do a 7M build 1jz swap or possibly a 2JZ NA-T setup mk3, my buddy just ogt a 2JZGE longblock and will either swap heads or port the ge head and use a MHG to lower compression and put in a single turbo kit. This is cool since it will work on his r154 after he rebuilds it of course and with the 3.0l displacement should retain a good torque number and power curve, it's alos right around the same price as a 1jz swap would cost me since I am an auto and would need an r154 or getrag 6 to have any kind of fun. I like the 1.5 JZ, 3.0L but still 1jz looking, Sleeper sleeper mk4 eater.

Yeah, it was probably someone who spent his time building a 1JZ to make horsepower rather then speculating in online forums about what the engine can or can't do. There really are people out there like that, I have met a few before. :biglaugh:

I say we see a video or time slip. It very well COULD have happened and it is possible but lets see some proof. Nice to see something to back up a claim is all.

1JZ in MKII would be verry good for drag But i must admit a 1500+hp 2jzgte in a MKII would probley kill all on a track

based on taking a lightened mkii of "With the light curb weight of my 82 Supra now at 2900 lbs" from the page http://suprasonic.org/gtestory/

then bumping the hp specs to 1500hp that have been established by the top 10 built 2JZGTE plug in the numbers into track calculator http://www.robrobinette.com/et.htm
you could in theory get 7.2 quarter mile time!

but keeping on track the 1jzgte of about 800whp top ten 1jzgte figure in theory the mkii could get up to 8.95 quarter mile time

futhermore pluging in the value of a 700-800whp mkiii stripped down to 3100 lbs could possibley get a 9-10 second 1/4 mile
