Engine Swaping Question, Help please!

OK i got 2 supra's. an 87' with a 2jz and a 90' with the 7mgte. I want to take the 2jz out of the 87' and put it in the 90' and then put the 7m into the 87'
Question is, will it work to put the 90' engine, harness, and ecu into the 87' or will i have plug issues? Any help would be much appreciated. I really want to put the 2jz in my 90' but only if i can make the 7m work in the 87'

Just use a 7M harness from a pre-89 turbo. The plugs are different between model years. '89 was a bit of an odd year too - they were a bit mix and match...

ya but arent the plugs different on the engine too? there fore pre 89' harness wont work with late 89' engine?

The question here is: Did you put the 2J in the 87??? If so, I think you can make it work. But, the 90 harness will not just plug in unmodified in the 87. Some plugs will be different. But it is not impossible. Sorry, I can't help with that tho.

ya the 2JZ is wired into the 87'

Not a whole lot different on the motor side. I believe the igniter would need to match the harness. The cps also is different color plugged, but I thik the same. You may also have an issue at the coil pack, but not sure. Problems will be with the plugs in the dash not matching.

thats what i was concerned about and how hard it would be to make it work
