I'm kinda broke right now while i'm working on my swap so could i make the 7mge radiator work for the 1jz? or do i have to get a different radiator and fan? if i do have to get a new radiator which ones do you guys recommend?

Dunno about making the 7M work but I know DM sells a Koyo Racing rad that is a common swap purchase.
EDIT: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24799&highlight=7m+radiator+1jz Just searched, similar question. Instructions on second page for making a 7M rad work w/ fans and all.

The only real difference is that the JZA70 has a thread in the bottom for the temp switch for the hydro fan. They are also about 4mm wider so don't try to swap to tanks like I did, they don't fit!!!!!! Why Toyota changed them that amount I have no idea.

no my buddy is running a stock 7M radiator on his 1JZ with hydro fans it will work except without the temp sensor in the Radiator yur hydro fans (if thats what yur using) will be at full blast at all times.....
if yur using the 2JZ water pump and mechanical fan then it would be the same thing as a 7M with mechanical fan

Im using an 87 7M radiator with my 1jz and hydro fan setup with working hydro fan temp sender. I just drilled and tapped a hole in the bottom for the temp sender and used alot of copper High temp RTV on it and it has been working great with NO leaks for 6000 miles now.

The fan does not spin at full blast without the temp sensor. It does spin, but that is the slow speed. When the temp sensor is hooked up and the ecu plugged in, that speed of the fan creates a little hurricane. Big difference.
Someone also mentioned on Supraforums that they just used the 7m radiator and just wired a resitor instead of a sensor. ( cut the sensor wire plug and joined the two with a resistor in between.
Drilling and tapping is another good way if it does not leak.
Don't know if this is the right thread for this question but what the heck ;)
I want to remove the hydro fan setup, what do i have to do? I will beusing a 7M radiator and a 14" electrical fan instead but i'm worried about the hydro fan setup. Do i have to change to a 2jz waterpump, hope not to!

i used a 7M-GE rad on my 7M-GTE set up and it would overheat everytime i drove it. Changed the rad and never had the problem again. So yes, im sure you could use a GE rad, but id bet money on you'll be making another thread asking why your 1J is overheating

Ooh my bad, didnt see that this was about the GE rad, i have the GTE rad ;) So no problems then? But now to the hydro fan issue, for me it is anyway :1zhelp:

Nope it runs full speed

Been using 7mge rad and 2jz pump and fan for over a year and my car never over heats even when drove hard with the ac on during the Fl summer heat...

You may have to change over to the MkIV H20 housing and pump setup.YOu wouldn't need a fan if you are using the electric ones.
If you are in the us, I will take your hydro fan / shroud setup :)

Dang these little things are so inconsistant.
Here's how I tested mine on the 2JZ :
NO Senor, no ECU = Slow speed.
NO Sensor , ecu plugged in = Full speed
ECU + Sensor both plugged =l normal desired operation > Fan speed varies according to temperature.

you are correct. don't be so hard on yourself.
we are talking about with the ECU and no sensor. so your chart is right on target! ;)

Hey guys, would it be alright just to run a 7mgte rad and 2jz fan by them selfs? without the little stock fans next to the battery?

you can but the aux fan helps a bit especially when the ac is on...
