Is 600 on a stock bottom too high of a goal?

I was thinking of going like a gt42 turbo. I often here that the 1jz won't spool big turbos like a 2j will. I was hoping that I can make that up with rpms. What is your guys opinion?

gt-40r would better on a 1jz. i am hoping to acquire a AMS gt-37r (no such thing I guess) but AMS is making great power with it and there are srt-4's with 2.4L making huge power and response on this turbo.

Well I guess that if I really wanted big power I need to go 2jz bottom.

You can rev the 1JZ higher than a 2JZ. It's just .5 liters, and there are guys busting 600RWHP with older T88's. Sure they don't spool until 5,000 RPMs, but you will be shifting at 9,000.... plenty of powerband.
Very doable with the above selected turbo, especially if you went ball bearing, shouldn't be too difficult at all!

turbodriz You're understimating the under dog 1j im offfffffended. 600 horse is nothing i believe the stock bottom on the 1j can go for 800 just like the 2j. Some day im going to make mine crank out 1200 horse and run well over 200+ mile an hour all at it in pure 1JZ-GTE power watch me. Ill prove that the underdawgs can defeat topdawgs.

GT40r should do 600whp, and with stock internals, I wouldn't be afraid to rev to 8k, which would give you a wide enough powerband that you wouldn't fall out of boost after a shift, even if the thing doesn't spool until 5k. Of course, it wil spool sooner then that. A GT35r will spool 20+psi around 4k give or take a few hundred rpm. A GT40r I wouldn't imagine being much more then 500rpm higher.

Sorry I was in Florida. I'm really happy to see guys who have goals like I have as far as power. I have faith in this motor making big power. It's still a jz motor. The rb 26 is a 2.5 liter and makes well over 1,ooohp. I actually purchased 2 1jz my boy brought one too. We went 1jz and the the 2jz because we believe that they can achieve high hp.

the rb26 is a 2.6 liter engine the 2.5 ur referring to is the rb25 which is the 2.5 liter. Both kick ass motors and ive seen both crank over 1000 hp. But then again we'll never have them anyways unless u've got so cash for a skyline. I Say F*ck the skyline ill race one anyday i see one. Its been one of my longest fancy to race and destory a skyline. No offense to any one i love the skyline too but im a Supraman.

Alright so what is the highest hp 1jz that this community knows about. Built that is. What I'm getting at is where does these motors lack that alot of people go 2j instead of 1j? Especially being that a 1j is a easier swap?

people swap in a 3.0l block so they'll have more low rpm power to spool bigger turbos.

I'll hopefully be doing 600+rwhp on my stock as a rock 1jz, I just got my turbos on, search my posts on SF for pics.
