I got an 87 supra with 4" up front but I might be buying 6.5" speaker pods ...Will these bolt straight up? Do I need to change the grill?

alpine type s but i think im gonna get some better component speakers.

depending on the speakers, youll really need an amp for them to sound good and have any low end at all.

the type S's sound good with the amp i have but id like to get some more volume out of the set up so im going with a bigger amp and some different speakers.

if youre interested ill be selling the alpine speakers in a week or so, id let them go for 150 plus shipping.

You can find them on ebay, or here in the FS section from time to time. Or, you can build your own, it's pretty easy :)

another question, these pods. are they for the door, or they like kicker pods

They're for the door. There's a huge opening in the door frame. The speaker pod basically mounts into this big opening, adapting it to fit a standard speaker. You can make one out of a shin sheet of MDF.

i made a speaker holder type deal with my 6 1/2's and i had to cut the door so you might have to do that if you make them.

took 4 days to finish 2 doors, big pain in the ass.

Why would you have to cut the door?

lets be realistic here. you obviously are the EXCEPTION and not the rule.

MOST 6.5 inch 2 way speakers fit in the door with no problem.

you should have specified on the exact dimensions of your speaker. otherwise you are just misleading people and thats not the purpose of this site.

You can pull the rubber magnet cover off of those so they are easier to fit . Not really that huge after that.

That is a PERFECT explanation. I'm bookmarking this for future questions on the matter :)

You can also cut a bunch of that metal around the grille away to help it sound a little better.
