My wife has a 94 celica gt automatic with K&N, mk4 taillights and full exhaust. The car has 120,000 miles the engine still runs good and the tranny is ok. She wants to keep the car so I think I'm going to swap the 1jz engine or the 2.0 mr2 turbo engine. The problem is the car is FWD.
What do you guys think?

hmm, a transversely mounted 1jz... sounds... awkward. i think maybe the mr2 engine is a better choice :dunno:

i don't really know crap about those newer celicas, but why don't you search the web for the turbo motor that the celica all-tracs came with? Maybe hit up a jdm engine importer and see if they have it, or see if they could source one for you.

that would kick ass a 1jz in a 94 celica where will the tranny go?

Dude.. just see if a company like Jarco [reputed for complete swaps PLUS all the goodies from the donor car] can import a front clip from a ST205 Celica GT-Four from Japan and MAKE SURE that they include all of the AWD drivetrain, hubs and suspension.
Then you can convert your wussy FWD Celica to an AWD Turbocharged Celica, with an engine that's meant to be in the car. The 3S-GTE [the same engine that came in the turbo MR2] is a more than capable engine, with later versions of the engine that included more than 250hp, air/water intercooler and anti-lag feature.

yeah, you should go with the atrac unless you have lots of money to waste tryin to fit a 1j in a celica. not so sure about the mk4 lights on a celica though, haha. :crazy1:

..if you CAN though, might wanna opt to get the whole chassis for the GT-Four. You will then have the 3S-GTE and have a good chance you can easily strip your current drivetrain in favor for a bolt-in AWD conversion.

Umm... I have to ask. How do you fit an inline six motor sideways in a compact car.

thats not that hard im doing a 1jzgte into a corolla ...but to do a 1jz sideway into a celica is a different matter...you would need a whole new front end...and a custom trans and motor mounts....plus the pumbing for the inteercooler....and then the water lines....oh yeah and then hack up the fire wall...ahhhhgggg :1zhelp: my head hurts ...can we stop on this idea :nono: :nono: :nono: it will never happen
