View Full Version : need new(er) sub suggestions
ive had a pair of audiobahn 10" se's in my trunk for a while now, along with an 800w bridged audiobahn intake amp. its all sitting in a box i built, but the whole thing is way too heavy.
what can i switch to to give me nice, noticeable bass, but will be easily concealable/will not take up as much space in the hatch? in addition to this, weight is definitely a factor (main reason why im switching)
would something like this work for me?

Have you looked into an Infinity bass-link? Probably the only infinity thing I would recommend, but If I didn't have a complete false floor I would have gone that route... Self powered, Great sound, small, light....
i was wondering about that, or just a rockford 8" or 10" punch stage 2 with a small amp. itd cut my weight in half, that's for sure.

If you wanna go with an 8 I'd recommend a Kicker L5/L7 8.
The nice thing about the basslink is you don't have to worry about a big enclosure, mounting the amp, all that shit, you just screw the basslink down, hook up your RCA's/Power/Ground/Remote and you're done.

justin, do you got a pic of your false floor set up? I wanna do that with a sub mounted where the spare goes cause I still want to have my targa fit in the hatch

I never take my targa off, so it wasn't a concern to me. I bought this box with it... http://cgi.ebay.com/PORTED-MDF-SUB-ENCLOSURE-BOX-for-JL-AUDIO-8W7-8-W7_W0QQitemZ170047595609QQihZ007QQcategoryZ50565QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
if you go sealed, it can be almost half that size. I like having a box so I don't have to cut into the car, or lose my spare tire, etc. When I need to carry something, I just take it out and it's like I never had one in there.

ic....well i already too my spare out so I think I'm gonna go with a 10 inch where the spare is with a false floor so I dont have to cut any part of my car.

do you have a link?
how much of a difference is there between the rockford punch stage 2 8 and 10s, or just between 8"s and 10"s in general? so you like that JL 8", matt?

those jl's are kinda cheater subs. it has the cone of a 10", with the frame of a 8"
It is a highly regarded SQL sub. (Sound quality and Loudness). I love it!
