Well....here we go. I bought this car from a friend about a year ago...i'd always liked supras but NEVER thought i'd actually get one because it was on my list of "rare" cars...i figured i'd have a toyota pickup.
well this friend of mine picked it up for 500...then "fixed" something and i bought it for 1400 because it ran good and he said the previous owner didnt have a clue. maybe he lied... i dont know.
either way i ran some radiator cleaner through it months later...BHG uncovered...whatever....great learning experiance and everybody loves my car so the effort, time, and money are well spent.
so now it's truly mine from the hours i've spent on the engine for the BHG (totall noob into engine work BTW... ) and i thought i'd post some pics because i just got a high-res camera.
let the 56k killing begin, i hope you enjoy the pics of my supra. let me know what you think...i'll probably get my SM photo album up someday but for now this is good. sorry for lack of rear shots, i havent photoshopped the plates out yet...and i'm to busy right now.

Well thats a nice clean car. I've always loved them in black but with some clear corners on it.
i LOVE black supras. black is definitely the color if you are going spoiler-less.
i like the 3rd shot...very imposing.

OMG! That paint is perfect. It's very rare that you see a pre-89 in beautiful shape like yours. It even has an almost perfect stock lip spoiler!!
Make sure you wax the hell outta that paint!
Where do you live in CA btw?

norcal. humboldt. :D
too bad my paint really isnt perfect...lol its actually really bad in spots but with a fresh wash w/instant wash and wax it hides most of it. i'm going to polish her up once i get money to buy a polishing kit. right now i need spark plug wires and i barely have money for that.

you may want to cover the plate numbers some more....the reflection is on the bumper.
BTW- super clean car. i can only hope mine will look that clean one day.

thanks, and yeah killerb told me about that too. thankfully it pretty hard to see what they are...but i guess if you go to the DMV you could just find a combo with "supra" in the title and you'll all set.
ill get back to the other replies in a bit, i didnt ignore you i'm just really busy as of now.

i have records of shock/strut replacement (i'm bad w/suspension so i'm not sure which or if both are correct) but i have a feeling they were replaced with something close to stock because its still pretty high up.
if someone posts measurements i'll go out and see how high my car iss from the ground and varify if anything was changed when the replacements were put in.
the rims are 16in...225s not sure how tall the sidewalls are...i forgot to look for you. will do that tomorrow.
why do you ask? i'm just curious.
Black MK3's are FTW!!! Nice ride
thanks man! its nice to hear that people like my car. it helps when i have to spend money on her.
OMG!...
thanks. :D
BTW- super clean car. i can only hope mine will look that clean one day. thanks, i hope mine will have a turbo like yours someday :D

I asked because you look like you have 15's with that wheel gap. Here is a pic of mine back when I had an interior and proper sized tires, atleast in the rear. I'm thinking you're sitting an inch high, but that's just a guess.

Here's yours for comparison.

at first glance my rims look rather small but i think its just the design. i dont THINK they are 15's unless i read the sidewalls wrong. i think i measured them once too. we'll see.
i think we're about the same....i compare the heights using the trim on the side and the top of my tires meets with the bottom "line" of the trim, as do yours.
make sence?

That does make sense to me.

89+ Springs were slightly shorter than pre-89 springs...The 89+ "revised" suspension is only SLIGHTY lower though...so Figit's car is a little bit higher than Adam's unless his is an early 89 and got the pre-89 springs or something weird.

Go with thecheapest setup(but not bad mindyou)
KYB's and Eibachs. Or I can sell you my scraer status HKS springs

Mine's a 90. And come to think of it, they're not stock. They're not TEMS compatible shocks like my car came with. Oh well.
johnathan1
11-20-2006, 03:11 PM
Shocks won't really affect ride height...it's the springs that make the difference.
Figit090
11-20-2006, 06:16 PM
yep.
i dont want to pay money for the esthetic aspects of my car unless its a polish or something low-cost. and my car handles fine so i dont think i need shocks...im not sure that i would even know if i needed them. either way...i dont have or wany to spend money on that. i dont drive crazy anyways.

thread was dead for months (until someone bumped it today) and the pictures from the rear never got posted; but, question, what's the big deal about showing your plates? I mean, I know there must be some sort of scam or people (not all) wouldn't be so paranoid about showing their plates. You show them on the road... what's the deal about showing them here?
Figit090
03-29-2007, 09:03 PM
not exactly sure....
i just got the impression it was bad. i've wondered this my self.
i can post the rear pics....i forgot about then when it died. lol...
one thing i guess could be theft. looking on a forum to find out info to steal a car would/could be eaiser than following the car or stealing it in broad daylight. considering thats the only time i drive... and another thing, you can get lots of info from the DMV that i dont need to give people online access too... including where i live.
it just decreases the chances of negative things happening to me. of course someone who sees it could steal it like any other car, but why make it easier for someone online to find it?

i wish it wasnt worrying me about rod knock. i cant get it off my mind after the BHG....
but thanks.
i put a new scratch on her front lip...i was putting coolant in and let the gallon bottle slip, and it rode down the front for a few inches before i caught it. the dirt stuck to the bottom scratched through the paint...
no clearcoat or a sharp rock...or its not really through the paint but looks like it.
meh..... i hope i have a clearcoat.

hey thanks man, i appriciate it! you've got a nice car too, sounds like a beast w/out the silencer. however it sounds honda-ish with it in. not a bad thing but, i like it out.
my car needs a polish now, but i still love her! really really really needs a wash too.... :P
oh and you're only 303 miles away! (hahaha...yeah i'm really really up north)
its funny i was just thinking about the auctions down south....about 290 miles away...and contemplating how i could get down there w/out too much $$ being spent.
