The group buy was for Fidanza cam gears, these are titan cam gears and avaliable only in polished. Same cam gears, just that I have bigger buying power at Titan than fidanza

I have been buying from Summit Racing for many years and they definitely know their stuff and prices are great. I'm glad to see you here, Welcome!
Same here now I will refer others as well. I have referred many already;)
They have the best prices for braided hoses oil relocation kits and billet relocation parts made of aluminum. Those cast aluminum parts kept breaking so I bought their billet aluminum parts and never have issues anymore. That 70266 B&M oil cooler is the best for cooling and space savings. That cooler is 1.5" thick and I have it mounted in between the IC and AC tank. My oil temps are way cool with my new bomex replica bumper.:naughty: :biglaugh:

Thank you all for the kind words, but I am not affiliated with Summit Racing.
They are almost my neighbor however, as they are only about 4 miles down the road from me. I have a small shop in Kent, Oh and I am a power seller on e-bay. I have a hugh buying power with over 100 diffrent companies and can get nearly any part for nearly any car. The MK3 supra is my main focus along with Nitrous Express and ARP. I am currently working on several projects for the mk3. Look for a full fuel kit, cams, fully built heads, stroker kits, custom oil pan, and several other items coming very soon.

Any idea on price?
Not untill I have the prototype done, it will be made of welded aluminum sheet. I almost have my polished aluminum hand crafted cam covers prototypes done. Then I am going to work on the oil pan.

^ you said you've been running that converter in your car for half a year now,
wut have you done to the transmission or for cooling on it or is it still stock.
I ask because i have only shimmed the accumulators and installed a generic oil cooler for the tranny and was concerned about the transmission holding up to a 3k stall.
suprarich
01-14-2007, 08:47 AM
My tranny is fully built, but the higher stall speed converter will not add more total power to your tranny. You tranny will see the same max hp your engine produces as before. You will not see higher tranny temps directly from a higher stall speed. You will however, see them from your new found driving habits. Also, you may see slower cooling of the tranny at idle, after a spirited run, due to less oil being moved by the higher stall conveter than the stock one at idle. If your tranny is in good shape, you use good oil and keep it clean, keep the tranny cool, and keep her to no more than 350 hp (normal limits to an un-built tranny), you will be fine adding this converter.

Regrinds are 400.00 plus your set of good cams plus shipping, new shims from me are 5.50 each if you want them.
Regrind cam kit is 699.00 + your good cams + shipping, comes with 7.7mm 272 cams or 8.6mm 264 cams, upgraded single springs, new under bucket make up shims.
The NEW 4140 billet steel cams I have not decided on a price yet. I am going to wait untill I have some in stock before releasing a price. I don't want this to turn into a crower thing.

thanks,
-shaeff
suprarich
02-27-2007, 04:40 PM
Hey Shaeff,
From what I see, some kits use NPT fittings and some use AN fittings.
Do you have a model number of your kit, or a picture. If you have the npt fittings, many adaptors are out there to go AN or barbed slip on for rubber hose. If your cooler has AN fittings directly, then it would just be a manner of making some custom stainless lines to fit right on.
shaeff
02-28-2007, 04:15 PM
i'll grab you the model number. for some reason, i think it's NPT. i already have the barbed fittings with rubber lines and hose clamps. that's what i'm looking to get rid of! :)
-shaeff
suprarich
02-28-2007, 10:31 PM
If you have those already, measure the thread diameter. If we know the size and already know that they are npt, then it would be a breeze to come up with the proper npt to AN adapter.

Very very interested in your regrind cam kit. Is what included in that kit everything I'll need to fit the cams in the head? Any other headwork necessary or are they a straight drop in issue?
suprarich

Straight drop in, as with any cam change however, you will need to fine tune the top shims. These are even heat treated after grinding, a step that nearly everyone else fails to do.

I'm definatelly in for a pair of 8.6mm 264 cams. Good to know that the rest of the stock components will work with the springs, I was kinda hopping that the spring rate would be higher than that though (something between 75-95 lbs seat pressure). With that small of a cam, i don't think you would ever need more than 55 lbs seat pressure. The best set up for 75-95 lbs is a dual ferrera set up. But again, at only 8.6mm and 264 duration, the 55 lb springs are more than enough. I have a 12mm lift cam in my street bike and spin 8500 rpm on it with no valve float.
As soon as they come in, I will make an anouncement that they are up for grabs. they should be coming back from the heat treaters wendsday.

Not sure Anthony, these adaptors allow the gm bellhousing to bolt directly to the plate. So in a sense, they are patterned for the gm PG, 700r4, th350, th400. I am not familiar with a TKO500. I like these plates because you do not need to cut the bellhousing off the gm tranny, so in the future you have not limited the use of the tranny. Once the bellhousing is off, other use for it is pretty limited.
You can buy a GM Bellhousing to suit the TKO and then that adaptor will work, easier is there is an existing adaptor for TKO to Toyota.

Rich these springs are rated 55lbs seated pressure at 1.5" installed, but the stock springs are 35lbs at 1.378" installed height. Would you know for sure if the competition cam springs are 1.5" seated installed height or 1.378" seated installed height in the 7m head! For if the competttion cams springs are 1.378" installed heights then the bind rate is different isn't it! If the group buy doesnt go through Id be interested in 272 cams at 9.5mm lift

As soon as I have my head finished, I will take some measurements on that. the installed hight on the stock springs is such because of the height of the locator to the retainer on a stock valve. I would assume in theory that the comp spring if installed with all stock hardware would have the same install height. As far as coil bind goes, I will have to measure for that once i have a set in the head that i am building. What size cam are you going to get from crower?

Not sure the cam profile to get yet; however the 264s are what I signed up for, but IJ tells me the 272 are the killers for power. I know that the stock seats 35lbs at 1.378", and theoretically the comp cam springs should be the same height. I also see that the comp cams at that height is 72lbs seated pressure at 1.378". This is double the stock rates. A little research goes a long ways. I have heard stories about the comp cam springs only being marginal over stock springs but my research shows that mis info flawed! I hear from a tech that comp cam spring 975 has a binnd at .500" at the 1.5 installed height. Since the stock installed height is 1.378 we subtract the difference of .122 from .500 and get a bind at .378" of lift which cuts the .375" of lift from the crower cams close. The 264s seems to be better suited for maximum clearance. The 272 will be tight. Anyone care to chime in on this finding! Seems to me only the 264s will work safely.

The lift on the crower cams, what where they, like 8.6 for the 272's I can do regrinds with that lift and a 262-264 duration. To get 272 duration the lift would have to be 7.7mm. If you want in the middle 9mm range for lift with a 272 duration, then that would have to be a custom ground cam set made from a 4140 steel billet blank. Much more money than the regrinds. The BC cams are only .342 lift, not .375
There are lots of spring options out there, I will call comp to find out about the 975's

the plate fits in fine after you trim it to the shape of the bellhousing. It comes as a large square. It is the gm bellhousing that needs a little clearance in the tunnel, but not too much. I have seen this plate first hand in a car. Yes, you will need a bastard converter and ati also makes those for this application, so they are easy to source. What I like about it is the sfi approved flexplate. I will have one in stock very soon.

Yes, I am going to be stocking the ati kits, best plate for the money I have found. The flexplate, aluminum adaptor plate, all the hardware, and the crank adaptor bushing all for one money. What I like about the kit is that any gm pg, 350 or 400 will work. Many places and people have trannys already. They will bolt right up to this set up and you woun't need to cut the bellhousing off. That way if you every sell the tranny in the future, it will not be limited to just a 7m. I think this is a much tougher set up also, the pump bolts where not intended to handle the force of the torque converter and the mounting to the block, both at the same time.

Ok, here is the deal on the comp springs. They are .953 OD and rated at 55lbs seat pressure at an installed height of 1.5 inch. At 1.325 installed height the seat pressure jumps to 80.5 lbs. The coil bind is .950 so this leaves you a threshold of .375 lift or approx 9.5mm. The max lift should only be a certain percentage of the coil bind, which I would put at .350 or approx 8.86mm.
The open pressure of the spring at 1 inch (or .325 lift) would be 127 lbs
so these spring would be safe for any regrind or BC cam. For a cam in the 9mm and up, I would use the ferrera dual set up.

But, many times I have heard the word billet grinds come up concerning the BC cams. I could be wrong, BUT, to my understanding, the BC cams are only chilled cast cores NOOOTTTT bittet steel blanks. HUGE difference. Chilled cast is really much like the stock cams construction. And at only 8.6mm for the largest they make, they are not any bigger than reginds. A good set of heat treated regrinds can be purchased for 420.00 shipped. Then all that is needed is some make up shims under the bucket to take the place of the reduced base circle. Easy to make yourself, or I sell those also taylor made to the cam.

Can't tell squat about the lobe profile without that ;) The BC cams are listed as 220/226 (on the 264s) so the duration @ .006" might not be much more than the stockers (which are 256 vs BC 264) but they have a much more aggressive ramp! (220 on the BC vs 201 on the stockers) 8 degrees difference @ .006", but 19 degrees difference @ .050"!

Hey guys, about the cams, I will have full specs on them as soon as they are ready to ship. The heat treater tells me he should have my cams done in one or two days, so then they should be shipping back to me.
The underbucket shims are just make up shims, you still use your factory shim on the top. The make up shim takes place of the material removed from the base circle of the stock cam lobe. nothing more than a spacer.

If you have a 1/2 inch ID hose and a 1/2 inch OD barbed fitting, the inside diameter of the metal barbed fitting will be reduced by the thickness of of the wall material. Some makes have thinner fittings than others, so more or less ID depending on the thickness of the wall. All fittings must be like this. Most barb end fittings are measured in inch size not AN size. A -10AN is a 5/8 fitting or hose.

So for a set of cams, upgraded springs, and shims it is 557.80 plus shipping plus your good set of cores returned to me. I had previously stated that the cams, shims and springs would be 699.00. So they will be cheaper than I first thought.

Rich is there any chance you could supply a titanium retainer set in your kit as well? I'd like to go with the comp valve springs but I can't seem to find a retainer set that would fit any other springs than the same make with the retainers.
Also, reffering to the cams, by heat treating do you mean that the cams are being cryo treated, or is that a totally different process?

I would, but I can not touch the crower price for titanium retainers. I would be curious to know what grade of titanium he is using. The ferrera retainers are nice, but cost a fair bit. Heat treating is a hot process of rehardening the cams after grinding. This is a step that most regriders fail to do. I am going to check on the UPS tracking in the morning to see where the cams are. I will get your set packed up for quick shipment as soon as they arrive.

Don't forget to include a set of underbucket shims in that parcel ;) -and if we manage to find a suitable set of retainers- the comp springs too.
I can get the BC titanium retainers for 245.67 for the set.
I can get the BC springs and retainers together for 525.00
The springs seem expensive to me, but that is a good price on the retainers. They should work on the Comp springs as well. Not sure how long it would take for me to get a set from BC however.

I have one stroker crank in stock ready to go.
The bare crank is 1500.00 plus exchange, plus shipping.
The custom pistons are 800.00 plus shipping. I can throw in a set of eagle rods for another 450.00 or pauters for 1175.00
Full Clevite bottom end bearing kits are 95.00, main studs are 128.00 and billet main caps are 585.00 All of which are in stock also. the only thing not in stock is the pistons. I would never know what bore size someone would want.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/rich1969/rods026.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/rich1969/rods027.jpg
The snout is brand new on this crank, the crank pully had come loose, so the snout was welded and ground down to oem again. The key ways are fresh and brand new.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/rich1969/rods028.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/rich1969/rods029.jpg
This crank is fully machined and straighter than they are when new. Rods are all std size, mains are .25m under. Had to grind them down this far to straighten the crank. This amount is nothing for the mains. Stroke is 97mm or 3.8192
The rods and mains are finished to have an oil clearance of .0015, this is very tight and will give the buyer room to polish down to their desired clearance.
Price for this crank plus the custom pistons will be in the 2200.00 range plus exchange.

Seems that my heat treaters had filled out the customs forms wrong and they where sent back. They are re-shipping the cams. I live 50 or 60 miles from Canada and use a heat treater up there. At least the price keeps going down.:icon_bigg

the program on the grinder is set, on average each 272 cam will be 220 degrees at .050 lift, and the 262 cams will be 218 at .050 lift. But like I said, each cam is different to begin with, so each end result will vary a little since the grinding machine is set to one spec.

220 on both sides isn't bad - that should work well with the stock AFM setup.

Dates are only given because people want to know a date. I can't just say,"they will be ready when they are ready". So anyone who makes custom parts has to create a date for when the parts will be ready. Most times, the date is never met, this is just the nature of the beast, and this is just how it goes when making custom parts. Delays always happen. I am sure you understand this since you make parts also.

suprarich
06-20-2007, 08:17 PM
You should see these bad boys! I am going to bring a set to florida during the meet to show them. These are the smallest billet cams I have.
8.95 total cam lift, 8.7 valve lift(depending on how tight you are shimmed), 265 duration@.006 lift, 234 duration@ .050 lift, 114degree max valve lift
I have cams all the way up to 13mm lift with 290 degree duration.
The small regrinds are - 7.95 max cam lift, 7.7 valve lift, 268 duration@0, 220 duration @ .050 114 degree max lift.
The larger regrind is - 8.2 max cam lift, 7.95 valve lift, 262 duration@0, 218@.050, 112 degree max lift.
All these durations and lifts DO NOT include the ramp lenght on the cam. Adding that lift and duration to the spec is cheating.

265 SAE with 234 @ .050"?! HOLY AREA UNDER THE CURVE BATMAN!
So ah... these will be at the O-town meet, you say? How much do they go for?
These would be lumpy as hell, without a super wide LSA (cam gears would be needed) but oh damn would that run the RPMs!
Wonder how well shims will stay in place using that aggressive a ramp....

These are not 265 sae or at 0.00 lift, they are 265 at .006 lift. I did not mic them at 0, but I would imagine that they would be 270-275 duration at 0.00 lift.
IJ - bigger has been run with std shims, as long as the lash is tight, and the shims are not sharp on the edges, no shim will be kicked out. I will have shim under solid bucket kits soon. Even though these are small cams as billets are concerned, they are still not 100% plug and play. The shims need to be really tight. We cut down a section of cam untill we had a profile that cleared the head with 100% saftey and then some. Looked good on the bench concerning shims when rotating in a mock up head.
Doward - 1450.00, it cost more to make these small ones than it does a 12mm set. We start with a peice of 5160 steel that will fit a 14mm lift cam and grind forever.
Rich: They're real close to what I run but have steeper ramps, I've only ever ran mine with shimless buckets that's why I was wondering ;)
(I was running to 8000+ quite a bit but have backed the limiter down to 7500 for this motor)

I understand, I suggest to run the shim lash really tight and to champher the edges. Did you see the pics of the billets in the general section. The heading of the post is " look at what my car is getting next" or something like that. We put index holes all over the front of the billet cams.

i need it to be a 90* M12x1.25 male end ---> 1/8" NPT female to mount my fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail where the CSI hose used to bolt on.
i can't find one listed anywhere, nor do i know if they even make it... heh.
if you can't find that, then how about a plug for it (preferably with an allan head) and i'll grab a t-fitting for the AFPR- (one port for the engine bay gauge, one for the cockpit gauge.)

well, where would i get the most accurate reading, from the rail (CSI area) or from the regulator. i was origionally planning on putting the liquid filled manual gauge on the actual fuel rail, and going from the AFPR to the cabin gauge, but i'd rather have the most accurate reading go to the cabin gauge, as that's what i'll be monitoring constantly.
so, i suppose that's up for discussion. i can't see the difference really being to large, though.
i don't actually have a cabin gauge, yet, but when i order one, i wanted it hooked up to the regulator, which is 1/8" NPT. currently, i have a 1/8" NPT threaded gauge on my AFPR which i was planning to move to the rail on a 90* fitting facing forward, and i wanted to put the cabin gauge off the port on the AFPR.
i just confused the crap out of myself when i read that, so let me know if i need to be more clear. haha
thanks rich!

Both readings will be accurate. One will be what the injectors are seeing and one will be what the regulator is receiving. You will see a sight difference under certain conditions between the two readings. Both will be correct enough to monitor your safe fuel pressure as the difference will be minimal

sweet. then we'll do it this way:
for the fuel rail, i need M12x1.25 male -> 1/8" NPT female 90*. i'll keep my mechanical gauge on the AFPR so it's easier to see and whatnot. i think the AFPR would look weird with a sending unit popping out the side of it.
so yeah, just that, and the other fittings i mentioned via PM, and we're set. if you have trouble finding the M12x1.25 -> 1/8 NPT 90*, then hold off on it, as i need the other fittings much sooner than i'll need that one.
thanks rich! you're a HUGE help!

Will those rods work on the stroked crank. I will want a set if so I think...

Hey Anthony! Yes, any regular 7m rod will work with the stroker crank. The custom pistons you would use will make up the lenght.

Rich,
... good chat; tomorrow the machinist measures the crank then I'll order the bearings etc
He says the bores are .006" piston to wall straight down.He says the probes measure what's on the box with no .003" over for standard.
He also said he needs file fit rings so he can fit them?Arent these (NDC's or NPR's) larger so they can be fitted he says the standard ones are not?He has all the stuff so I can't check.

As requested, most 6m or 7m will cost in the 150.00 dollar range to spin balance. And in the range of 360-400 to knife edge.

I'd like some info on a performance rebuild for my auto, along with one of your T/C's. What services do you offer?

Going to be selling the built auto in my own car here soon with the torque converter as a package. I am going to install a motor over the winter in that car that will need a GM tranny. It does not have more than 2500-3000 miles on it and has a SIP 3000 stall converter. LMK if interested.

I will sell my built auto with the 3000 stall converter for 1200.00 plus shipping.
This is the deal of a lifetime! You would be looking at 2700.00 for a tranny plus 600.00 for the converter if new. My set up only has 2-3k miles on it. And holds the #2 world record for stock turbo 1/4 mile time.

How much horsepower will this tranny hold? I know the stock ones give out at about 300. What was this built with? Thanks

It was built to handle 5-600 hp. I ran 425 to 450 on nitrous through it. It would work much better with a raised rev limit. I bounced the rev limiter in 1st gear a few times. You can see the tranny in action on a video here on the forum. Or on the tx2k7 DVD.

Rich: What was the time on that vid?
suprarich

That was a 12.81 @ 104, No nitrous on that pass. think the 60 foot time was a 1.85
With out the nitrous, I was running 350 RWHP.

Yes, that car is still 36-3700 or so lbs. It is the torque converter IJ. Made such a hugh difference. Anyone with an auto should make this one of his first upgrades. I left the line in that video with 8 psi of boost @ 3100 rpm. My car had really great 60 and 330 foot times, but the limits of the stock CT turbo would come to play once past 300 feet.
On the street, you see instant spool at a 30 or 40 mph roll. Instant spool also, when at 50-60 mph roll, and the tranny downshifts to pass someone under full throttle.

Thanks!

Thanks!I thought TOGA made a HV pump, at least that is what I was told I have?
AJ: It's just a GTE pump.

Yes AJ, IJ is correct- Toga does not make any pumps. It is a asin made 7mgte pump in a relabled Toga box. They just call it a high volume, but it is no different then a the em asin made toyota pump. It is, however, a hi-volume upgrade for the 7mge, as they have a smaller gear set.
I am working on a bolt in higher volume oil pump for the 7mgte that will be a true hi-volume with a larger gear set than the oem one.

are you going to test the volume difference between the high volume and stock? I think Aaron is offering a high volume pump, but have yet to see any numbers from his.
