I'm currently running the stock 3.90's at about 400hp...I have a set of 4.30's in my garage..By spring I SHOULD crack 500hp and plan on going to the track..should I stick with my gearing or swap in my 4.30's..this isn't my DD so gas mileage and hiway rpm's don't matter...I'm just sketchy about the gears cause I burn through 1st in a flash as it is..

You will spin more but those gears are better for the quater mile it may be time to invest in some slicks.

I know I wish I had more $$$ to get some nice rubber for the back I get beat by civics in 1st gear

To be honest, I don't really like the 4.30's with a larger turbo. Not enough load in 1st and 2nd gear.

Not only that, but 1st, 2nd and 3rd are over before you know it. I have 3.73 btw.

4.30's + 1/4 mile + stickies + 500rwhp = well...just hope you can drive. ;)
As long as you can handle ripping through the gears so quickly and have some GOOD slicks, 4.30's are VERY beneficial.

bingo. the idea behind gearing is to choose the highest numerical ratio to allow for the least amount of shifts in the 1/4. in 99% of those here, that means a 4.30. this, of course, assume good traction- i.e. slix.

I had 4:30's in my old supra and it was a blast... but you will go through 1st-3rd very quickly...

stick with 3.73's. with the 4.3 you will be bouncing off the rev limiter right when you cross the finish line.

That completely depends on your setup. Saying that with the 4.3 you will be bouncing off the rev limiter is a statement that is only true if...
Like I said, it completely depends on your setup.

yeah, unless you raise the limit with some cams or are with a standalone
