I had a rod knock which caused my motor to blow. It was an NA with a turbo setup on Na electronics. Can i put in a gte block ,pistons, rods ,and crank. I heard there are 2 knock sensors on gte and one on the ge but i still have ge harness on my setup. I just want to swap out with bare block, will i have problems doing this? thanks Steven.

the na head will bolt up to the block with out a problem. As far as the knock sensors go there is two on the gte block. i'm not sure how the knock sensor is located on the ge block and i realy don't want to give you bad information but it might be possible just to run it off of one knock sensor, leaving the second one in just to keep the hole plugged. Someone esle could probaly help you with this that has done it.
hey if it works you have an extra k/s in cause the one running off the computer goes bad and you could never lose it.

the threaded holes for the knock sensors don't go all the way through the block, so there's no reason to leave it in there unless it's functional.
second, tap the two outer holes in the GE block for the KS's, and run two of them if you're using a turbo ECU. you can never have too much protection.
on the GE, it's located in the center of the block.
if you're still on N/A electronics, you can tie the signal wires and ground wires together.

i knew Shaeff would be the one to chim in on this. i kinda figure the na k/s was located in the center of the block and Shaeff is right since your still on the n/a electronics tie the two k/s together. i wasn't realy thinkin when i said just use one k/s and leave the other one for a spare, i was posting under the influence last night:drink1::aigo:

I just happen to have a Friend of mine that has a MK3 with a 7MGTE jdm Engine, A 7MGE wiring Harness, 7MGE ECU, Distributor with NA Plugs, 7MGE Coil Mounted instead of a CPS. Needless to say his car starts up and runs fine. We did a HG Job on it a few weeks back and when I reconnected the NA harness I just left the other Knock sensor in and didnt use it. Car starts fine so you shouldnt have any Problems
Yes, the NA Knock sensor is in the center of the block, Dead Center

Thanks for the help all. Maybe while i have it ripped apart i might put new internals in it. Ill finally have piston squirters too. Ill take your advice on the k/s shaeff thanks. Ill Take this oppurtuinity to start a new build. Does any one know how much boost stock pistons that are Cryogenically treated will take safely. Guit Guit sells them on ebay.

really, it's mostly in the tune. forged goodies will just take more of a beating with a bad tune. :)
