installing a cd player questions

I have a JVC cd player I want to install in my 87 manual supra. I have read the install thread by cwapface but I still have a couple questions...

For the wiring harness that I need to solder onto the wiring for the factory tape player/radio is it a Toyota Supra specific harness or is it just generic/universal for any model of any car for any model/brand of cd player? Also, what is needed in an install kit, do they come with brackets?

Also is the pocket, harness and install kit all SUPRA specific or is it universal?

stupid, stupid, stupid.......

My CD player came used and came with a harness, I spliced it into the wiring on the toyota truck I have, can I do the same for this car,or do I need a whole new harness?

Going to pick up the harness tomorrow, I took the rest of the stuff out of my truck.
Dumb question, the harness I buy I splice together with the NEW cd player power harness, then it connects to the UNCUT factory radio wiring, or how does it work?
