I'm very happy to be here
i cant wait to get an upgraded downpipe and some 100 or 110 gas and through it on the dyno and see how this tuned ECU really does.
as far as I know so far, i havent seen anyone else in the US with a Stealth ECU. so I dont know much about it. trying to do some research but havent found much. :gaybar:

Allan, am i not hot enough for you? :D
Joe: I'm almost tempted to fly you out here to detail my engine bay before I put the new motor in :)!
Looks beautiful!
OneJoeZee
06-06-2005, 05:59 PM
it wasnt that hard. the engine was pressure washed right after it came out of the clip and then delivered to my house.
i did alot of the detailing of individual parts while jose and aaron were working on the actual car. a gallon of simple green a few brushes and some steel wool for the tuff stuff. just took a while. :)

didnt take that long to clean. engine was pressure washed before it got to my house. then it was just a bottle of simple green and some towels, steel wool, and wire brushes that i used.

Great Job, looking good man! :2ar15:
to get rid of that other pump/pulley etcetcetc make some more power... follow this brutha man.
2JZ-GTE Water pump assembly: Toyota Dealer Part #'s
Water pump assy. 16100-49845
Fan pulley 16371-46020
Fluid coupling assy 16210-46030
Fan 16361-46060
Thermostat 90916-03093
I get dealer cost so the parts cost me 420.. Good investment to rid yourself of that power drain, and it de-clutters the engine compartment. :naughty: :icon_bigg

I'd rather use the hydro fan. If you get it with your clip/engine set, there's no reason to change it. It works wonderfully.
It's not worth the hassle(to me) to buy all the 2J stuff. Nor is it worth any minimal amount of power gain to change the setup?
How is it freeing up power though? The 2J fan is powered by a pulley as well... The hydro fan isn't even attached to the engine.
Troyota

Burn...just kidding. I think the 2jz fan would rob more power because the fan causes a LOT of drag. Whereas, the Hydrofan is run by the waterpump which would still need to be driven whether or not you were running the Hydrofan system.
jbsupra89t
04-08-2006, 11:31 PM
How much power would he be leaving on the table, maybe 5-10hp? I don't think anyone can feel a 5-10hp SOTP. If I had hydrofan I'd keep it, I didn't, so I used the 2jz fan. Both are great choices, hydro has been proven to be very stout...
not saying it doesn't work as it sits.. but what I am saying is that it is a minimal power gain, but a huge cosmetic one.. cleans up the engine compartment nicely :). I'll get pics when I can.
OneJoeZee
04-09-2006, 06:46 PM
I'm also saying the cosmetic gain doesn't mean anything to me, either. I don't mind the extra resevoir or lines.

The explanation is this thread is about a year old when it was still called the 1JZ/2JZ section :).
Those aren't even pics of the current motor that's in the car!
