Hey all. Fellow Supra lover here for many years. Loved the mark 4 since like 1995 and since then became obsessed. Well, finally, I have a Supra. I rescued it from a rotting death from some older guy. It sitting in his yard for over a year across my friends house and everytime I saw it within that year I cried just seeing it sit there. So one day he finally put it up for sale. I talked to the guy and he said he blew the head gasket (of course) and wanted to fix it but never got the money to so he finally put it up for sale. My dad bought it for me cuz at the time I didn't have the monies. So a few months later I finally payed my dad for the car and got someone to do the motor work for me. 3 weeks later the idiot guy I gave it to finally took the head off, I saw the motor and said fook that. So instead I got a motor for $400 + $50 shipping and the 4th week he put it in so thats what sits in my baby today. I don't regret one penny I put into my car, it is my love & obsession. I plan on keeping it till its 100% completely unrepairable. I plan on either rebuilding the 7M-GE or most likely putting a better motor in, most def turbo thou.

Here's a list of stuff I put into it:
The car itself = $600
Motor = $400 + $50 ship
Altenator = $90 + $20 labor (brother)
Lower driver ball joint = $20 + $20 labor (friend at dads work)
Tune up (valve cover gaskets, wires, plugs, cap & rotor) = $50 + $50 labor (bro)
Rim & engine paint = $20
Faze temp gauge = Free from friend
Red underglow = Free from friend
All Strobes = Free from friend
Clutch (the killer of my wallet) = $120 clutch + $300 labor (real shop) *ouch*
Starter = I honestly forget. Labor $30 (bro)
Dual 10" Kicker Comp subs = $300 total

Thats most of it besides lil stuff like oil changes and random stuff.

Hmmmm.. the roof scoop is... yaaa.... not soooo bad, but the spoiler (plz, take it off:icon_razz , but a stock spoiler....so gigantic doesn't go with that car) other than that, the neons and light bulbs are kinda ok (you don't see them when they aren't working), and the car looks good.

As for the turn signal mod, for the brighter bulbs I put in the bigger type bulb with the same socket end on it, and for the dual light, I ordered new double light sockets from work and wired em up. And drilled out a bit of the part that hold the bulb in. It's real easy and cheap and looks alot better.

When you did your "random spins"...if you didn't steer inward in the circle you were making, and instead countersteered, you could get the rear to come out more and make it look a lot cooler.

Don't like the wing, don't like the hoodscoop (non functioning parts kill me, haha) and don't like the neons, but gots to love the Soup! Haha, keep doin what you're doin man and don't worry about our opinions or anyone on Supraforums, it's your car :bigthumb:

The Wing, scoop, underglow(the tubes are showing) arent really my style, but I like the strobe thing, and the taillights. Definetly swap for a 3piece wing and it will be much better. Big props on cleaning up the NA too, looks muuch nicer.

I commend you on saving a supra from decaying into a pile of rust, but for the love of God, get rid of that black thing on the back of your car. I don't have a three piece wing or I would gladly donate it to you. I hope you find something diffent to put on there. I don't like to make fun of another persons car, but you did ask. I love what you did to the engine. It really looks clean. I haven't watched your video yet, but I'm not sure I'm ready to see strobe lights on a supra. Hope you take our criticism as constructive criticism and keep making improvements on your car. It was not my intent to make you feel bad, just wanted you to look at your car through a clearer vision. You said your tired of the wing, so please take it off. I have issues with your price list........

1. Why would you pay $600 for a car they were asking $500 OBO?
2. Why would you pay $600 for a rotting BHG N/A Supra? I have bought several for $100-250
3. Who shipped a motor for $50
4. What kind of brother charges labor?
5. What kind of friend charges labor?
With friends and family like that, I'd hate to meet the enemies.
6. $30 labor for starter swap? Can we get a group buy on that when needed?

I love what you've done for the car. I hate the rice, but it seems you will grow out of it soon. But you have done a great job rescuing it from dissentegration (sp?). Spend at least an hour a day on this site, it'll do you good. Your gonna need the community one day.

didn't watch the vid, didn't want to... and i'm w/ ya on that... i don't even push my car over 6k rpm... unless the tires slip or something, but 99% of the time, i drive my car w/ complete respect, and of the times i do drive it hard 99% of the time, the motor doesn't see anything over 6k rpms

I think I've figured out your problem with not being able to break em' loose on wet pavement.:icon_mad: The longitudinal wave frequency from your neons, along with the axis curvature of the wing, have created a 4-6 gravity load on the rear third of your vehicle.:x: :confused:

I am a sweetheart. I don't like to push my opinions on someone else. I won't let someone push theres on me. He likes his car and that's really all that counts. We can offer him suggestions all day long, but I doubt he changes anything unless he wants to. Therefore I see no need in ridiculing him because our taste differ. Everyone treats people differently. Well as for the neons I'm probably taking them off cuz the POS's broke again. a 48" side one broke for the 3rd time, damn crap. So ya that'll be one less ricey thing on her. Sorry you guys hate alot of things on my car but just because you don't like em doesn't mean you gotta go omg thats crap. And my brother is a asshole but I'm not that great at working on a engine so the bastid charges me, ya, nice brother. As for the video, I wasn't redlining it constantly, when it got close I let off the gas and feathered it. Thou last night I found some kids and they thought their Saturn and old Nissan Sentra was the shit so I somehow managed to do a 180 fish tail in the parking lot and of course I have no video the one time it does it. I'll post later but right now I gotta go to work and deliever car parts in the Supra.

Why is it if someone doesn't have something stock on their car everyone has to make fun of it or say take it off. God forbid its not OEM or too ricey. You all keep your cars mostly stock just so others don't make fun of you on the forums yet I can tell some of you want to do mods to your car that are considered ricey. Take a stand and do something different than everyone else, why do what everyone else likes or does. My car has to be different than any other car. I don't care if its a Dodge Shadow or a Supra, I must be different in some kinda way. I don't understand people sometimes, its the same on every car forum. I'm almost 24 and don't need this kinda stuff and be treated like a 16 year old kid. If this is how every car forum is I just don't need it.

for the record... this is the best car forum i've ever come across... period, most of us have a specific "taste" for what we like to do to our cars... and yes, there are plenty of ways to set your car apart w/ out making it look "ricy", just my oppinion, but i'd rather have a supra that looks stock than "ricy"... but i do plan to so some mods to the body, but of course tasteful jdm mods such as....

plan on at least getting a lip of some sort for the car, maybee a front splitter as well... possibly over or wider fenders, regulus nose, maybee a molded wing... we'll see about that though.... but my point is there are several "tasteful" mods to be done to set your car apart w/ out making it looks like "rice", and another major thing is that we don't like to see a car, especially a supra, beaten on... there is a propper way to drive a car hard... wait 10 min till after it's at full operating temp.... then drive it, but there's still a certain amount of respect involved... well i hope we didn't come across in the wrong way, but that's basically the reasons for the actions taken... gl w/ the supra though, and i can only hope you'll understand what i'm trying to say, i'm not the best w/ words :)

Don't let it get to you, because, yes, most forums are like that. But I too find this one to be better than most. I may not agree with everything you've done to her, but so what, there are a lot of thing that a lot of other members do that I don't like. Want a little better treatment on this forum? Don't make a video of your car driving around in circles in a wet parking lot!:icon_razz :nono: Also, making your Supra look like a "riced out" honduh will never get you any respect amongst the Supra crowd. You might not like that attitude, but it is fact. Most of the Supra owners on here, have alot of pride that their cars are so unique compared to honduhs and the likes of. If you take that into consideration when you mod your car, you will be okay. I would say there is a certain amount of responsibility to the Supra community, when you start putting up vids like the one you did. I've been on here now for awhile. My car looks good, and I'm happy with the progress I've made. She's making 320whp/343tq at 11.5psi...respectable. However, I would not even consider making a video of a burn-out, or cookies, just because it is stupid, and wasting people's time to watch something that has been done a million times before. Bring something new, and fresh, and respectable to the forum, and you will see a whole different side of the forum members. These are a great group of car enthusiasts here. The Supra community is probably better than any I've been associated with in the past, and way better than the others my son has been, or is currently associated with.
Keep your chin up, enjoy your Supra, and don't expect instant respect, for doing crazy things to your car.(I;e wing, and roof scoop)

Well...On any type of forums, it's meant that you state your opinion and discuss. Things can get out of hand sometimes, of course. It happens.

But people, there is a fine line between "stating your opinion" and "being an asshole". Honestly. To be completely honest with you, nothing bothers me more than seeing someone go down in flames just because they prefer something you don't.

If he got on here dissing your car and calling you a retard for getting BHG, should you be offended? Most definately. But that's not the case here. We have a guy that got a Supra, he obviously LOVES it and has a passion for it as he spoke in his original post. Maybe it doesn't have a 95mm turbo or 7,000 shot's of Nitrous, but it does have what he wants it to have, and that is the important part.

Again, nothing wrong with opinions people, but think about what you say and HOW you say it. That's all I ask for. Quite frankly, I'm starting to look up to Supraforums now...Good Lord.

Jeff, may you now be the one to be :flamed: ........Supraforums sucks ass! It is being taken over by the MKIV punks, and the MOD's think they are God. The only reason I ever get on there is to communicate with my local MKIV friends. It's evident that anyone with any MKIII knowlege has vacated that place, and made this their home. Go read the MKIII technical page for a few minutes, and check out the amount of elementary questions being asked, and the droves of newbs that join in without a clue. I'm no genius myself, but I feel pretty smart when I read over there. That usually doesn't last long.

I think Alpha should be respected for the simple fact that he has rescued a N/A, and is proud of it. Most N/A owners are scared of even posting, for fear they will be flamed for not going turbo yet. There are thousands of N/A owners out there, but this guy has the balls to show pride in his. There should be more like him. Most N/A owners are scared of even posting, for fear they will be flamed for not going turbo yet. There are thousands of N/A owners out there, but this guy has the balls to show pride in his. There should be more like him.

You guys are not forgotten in my book. My point was that this site is very turbo dominated. It's natural though, as most forums members are interested in performance. And what better way to improve performance can you think of for a Supra. A car can be nice without being fast........just ask your buddy with the new RX-8....or Eclipse........or 350z

Jeff, may you now be the one to be :flamed: ........Supraforums sucks ass! It is being taken over by the MKIV punks, and the MOD's think they are God. The only reason I ever get on there is to communicate with my local MKIV friends. It's evident that anyone with any MKIII knowlege has vacated that place, and made this their home. Go read the MKIII technical page for a few minutes, and check out the amount of elementary questions being asked, and the droves of newbs that join in without a clue. I'm no genius myself, but I feel pretty smart when I read over there. That usually doesn't last long.

hey!!! the same goes to me of how u got the car. I loved my neighbor's supra for like a long ass time. He left it sits for for 1 full year, august of 05 till now. Now that baby is mine ^_^. Obsessed and in love with the car. Got it 4 $400, run strong and smooth, som dings in the right rear panel and paint is old. But i love it, yur mod is fine, like they said, each has their own taste. Keep up the good work

Thanks guys for being a bit more friendly. I really appreciate it. As for turbo goes, I plan on saving for a 2JZ. The neons are off as of tonight. And I put a new radiator in my baby today. The old one was original, still workin with a TINY hole near the rad cap, but I figured since it had 194k miles on it, it was due. I try to keep my car in best shape possible. And every like 2 mins I eye my temp gauge. Gotta keep Supras cool. I met a few guys tonight and they like older Supras. One had a 98 VTEC 5 speed integra and wanted to trade me for his teg, and I said "Hell no, I love my Supra too much."

Here's proof I took off the neons, I put one on my ceiling above my comp as like a mood light. Tired of underglow breaking.
