Hey have having a few issues after the swap( see post in 7mgte teck section) just wanted to know if any one from everett to bellingham might be able to lend the personal touch. I am having problems understanding all the different post and not really making progress ( need a timing light and a ohmmeter) any lmk thanks matt

Figure out your problem yet? I didn't go to the thread in 7MGTE tech. I'm in kirkland and might be able to give some advice.

Throwing code 51 after a swap. Loping idle ,tested tps and it failed . So I took
to a shop to have it replaced should get back at 10am tomorrow if that fixed it then cool if not then I will repost . The thread was ( 89 7mgte swap into 92 chassis) Hopfully this solves the problem wish me luck and thank you for responding

why did you do a swap, and then take it to the shop to just replace the TPS?

Because I didnt do the swap . Had a shop do it that was 300 miles away .Didnt realize that the tps was out till 10pm and still had to drive to Mt Vernon. Was still on my honeymoon and wife was getting hella pissed.Had all ready cut honeymeen short to drive from B.C. to Vancover WA .

Not sure the difference of ecu from 87 to 92, but did you get code 51 when the car was off?

Normally, if the car is running and it throws 51, that is normal. You say the idle was loping? Like 700 to 200 and back and forth? Or sort of like a miss-fire?

What does your car idle @ cold? Warm? Should be right @ 650 when warm.

a Loping idle could be caused by other things as well; ie o2 sensor, wrong timing, shitty connection from wires from o2 to ecu or tps to ecu, or afm.

I would double check all wire connections via the tps and o2 sensor. The o2 should be butt spliced and the tps wires should be soldered.

Will do that. I get 51 key on engine off block jumped.Ideling 600 up to 1500 I think no tach yet due to swap. Idels somewhat normal when cold. I am pretty surre it is the "curb idle" when it starts to lope. Timing could be it because I belive the shop put in the N/A cam . Who knows with the wiring guess I will search the TSRM for ways to check the wiring

I would definately check the timing via a timing light.... Driving your car with wrong timing could seriously hurt it....

tps was definatly bad replaced it still no inprovment retarded timing much better but not so quick so next is the Isc gonna check and clean that in the morning

It does sound the like one of the main issues could be the ISC. I had the same symptoms; it would idle pretty well while cold and then start fluctuating when it warmed up. Swapped ISCs and no more problem. I don't remember if I had a code 51....it was over 5 years ago.

Hey everyone just an update , replaced tps and Isc no more cd51 now it has a really low idle and is running hella rich .I give it gas and it goes fine .I am going to check timing I think I am a tooth off . Throwing an intermittent cd 31 so I either have an Afm on its way out, loose connection ,or a vacum leak . Also I need to burp the cooling system. This car is kinda pissing me off just want it to run right . I spent a shitload of money to get a turboed car and haven't even been able to enjoy it . On the plus side I got offered my job back at Fed Ex which takes me from $9 an hour to 610.00 a week . So worse case I am putting that fat bitch into the shop and let them deal with it . Any better Ideas I am spent.........stupid ass car....;)

ok just checked timing and it was bouncing between 10 and 12 btdc . and I am still getting cd31 still wasnt idling steady give dipping a few hundred rmps so I figure that is why it was floating between 10 and 12

Tried to check Afm as per Tsrm have a multileter and guess what I dont know how to work it.....this is fucking retarded .I 'm starting to get overwhelmed with this G.Damn car .I feel like it is never going to work right and all. Stupid fucking owner

Ok so here it is up to date. New Tps, Isc, and Afm off of running cars all adjusted .Timing at 10 give or take 1 Degree because of no gradient marks on case . Running fair, not stumbling nearly as bad when I decel. Not really running as rich as it was , but still not idling rock solid. Slight backfire when I shift and not all the time . Plugs are new and the wires are not all that great. No codes at this time .Took her for a little run some stop light to stop light and a quick exit to exit on freeway up to 80. Still no codes . Going to give it a day or two to see if anything pops up and then maybe take it to a shop for a tune up and a little double check of my work . I will report in a day or two
