has anyone had their ac amplifier under /behind glove box fry on them , then get another amplifier only to find the compressor still won't come on....if checked all the usual stuff, wiring, fuses, ac freon charge, connections etc....any help?thanks

I did actually have that problem, but found out that my dual pressure switch had broken connectors after I had replaced the amp. Sorry, no real help to ya, but I did have a similar problem.

i've got a problem with my a/c to. i got it recharged the other day but it dont blow out that cold of air. i put a thermomiter to the vents and it only blows out 65 degree air. it has been this way eversince i got the car. last year it all leaked out so i had it fixed recently. it should blow out like 55 degree air or colder. does anyone know how to get it colder

iirc theres an expansion valve in behind the dash that regulates the amount of refrigereant out, over time it gets weak and doesnt open as much and so less cooling power. moral get a new one! like $30 i think but its not fun to get to...

nope never had that problem... my ac never worked...

well it did work...as a paper weight...

Are you using R12 freon?? Here in Calif. its $65 a lb. So I converted to R134a
2 years ago. If your system is charged and the compressor cycles properly, you may have a flapper door sticking in the ducts, which may be drawing warm air into the ducts. If the doors are all fine, then yes, it is most likely the expansion valve.
I do a/c at my shop. You might have a shop try flushing the system with a cleaner first, because replacing the x valve is costly.

Contrary to early rumors, a conversion works well. I leave a pocket thermometer in my left vent (another gage). My compressor cycles at 42*, back on at 50*.

Also, very important, air flow over the condensor. Does it blow colder on the hwy??
Yes??? Then around town warmer??? Yes??? The fan clutch may not be up to par, and not pulling enough air thru thru.

yeah the car blows out 65* air when its idling. it blows out colder air down the highway. i dont know how cold it is on the highway but its no 45*. i had it converted to the new stuff just like a month ago. since they did it has blowed out the same * air. the compressor is kicking in and staying. after like 20 or 30 minutes of driving on the highway it starts to get cold in the car if the windows have been up the whole time. its barley comforatible for the first 5 minutes of it being on. if i'm setting there just idling for a while i start sweating a little bit. it sucks.

Conversions are somewhat variable in what actually gets done,depends on who does it. Sometimes the R12 gets dumped, new oil poured in and then pulled to vacum and charged.
Mine got flushed, new drier installed, new o-rings, new oil, pulled to 30inches vacum, left for 30minutes to make sure would hold, charged with 134, checked for proper high/low pressures,leak tested, the condenser got cleaned and blown out. I have 47 degree air at idle, and a cool car even on 95+degree days.
In this as all other work, you get what you pay for...

If the system is fully charged up, I'd say you have a blockage. The A/c gages will read overly high (too much PSI) on the high-side (like 300-400psi). Have the shop try the cleaning flush first, before the expansion valve (mostly likely spot of blockage).
