i should note that those were on street tires, IIRC 275 kumho supras. also, those were practice/dial in runs, so please ignore the RT. ;)

After I get more replies I can have a list for upgraded CT's and bone stock CT's.

I bagged a 13.71@104 at Chi2k6 last night. AUTO! 10psi, stock turbo (It was spooling slow during the runs...and it blew up right after leaving the track). 275 street tires. Full weight + 275lb driver :biglaugh:

I kept red lighting because the brakes couldn't hold the car to brake boost. :( I'd hit 2-3psi at the tree...anything more and it would start rolling. I'm going after the #2 slot when I get another stock turbo. :D

I had it yanked....the e brake is strong too. I think it's more likely that the turbo just wasn't spooling for me since it was on its last legs.

It started death whining and barely broke vacuum right after I left the track...haha.

Did you see me accuse him of anything in my post?...

I was simply saying its hard to believe, he didnt even know the rear end he had in his car. Many people have upgraded turbos and simply dont know it.

Everyone who knows anything about the stock ct knows that anything over 16psi is out of its efficiency range. A lex afm on without 550s, that kinda tells me he doesnt know much about the cars... maybe he does and those are just fluke things, but we need him to elaborate for us to believe it.

Guys, he's local to me. I can tell you right now, there's no bottle, there's no upgraded turbo, there's no internal mods. he runs just the lex afm and makes it work well. NOT the first guy I've seen making that setup run like a raped ape. He knows what he's doing, though some of his methods are "not conventional."

I was skeptical at first, I figured he was actually running a GE block or a 4.30 whenever I ran him on the street, but it's a GTE and a 3.91...

your MPH is the real indicator. there is something wrong w/the car....

*nod* For instance, in 2nd gear, the car would start out pulling strong, then fall off quickly as preasure built. I believe part of my problem is the stock pre-cat and down-pipe, with 146,000 miles on it. Add my Code 52, and a possible compression problem, and you get 15.6 at 87mph:3d_frown:

Thank you for the comments.

Doward
08-21-2006, 01:42 PM
Cadman, when my 3" elbow arrives, I'll be able to tell you if a clogged cat will cause the problem (it sounds like) you're describing.

For example, I can hold 10 psi of boost all day long @ part throttle, but if I go WOT, I back down to about 6-7 psi. I think my stock cats are maybe not totally clogged up - but backed up enough they are causing obscene amounts of backpressure in my exhaust!

It's really the only explanation I can come up with... I'm going to run another compression test, but the last one I did (about 5k miles ago) came up 155 across the board.

No codes, just a 17.8 @ 75.75 mph. I feel your pain, man :3d_frown:

I'll post my times and speeds in here, but this is really offtopic to help cadman:

9-10psi, bic ddp, mbc, rigged lower IC hose, 125k mi second cat, stock catback, k&n fipk (all else stock) I ran a best of 15.0 @ 95 mph w/ 2.5ish 60' on really crappy goodyear tires (not performance tires).

add speed source lower IC pipe, hollow out the second cat (everything else same) I did no touch the mbc. Went to the track hit fuel cut at ABOVE 14psi in 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gears (16.7 second run)

turn the boost back down to around 10-11psi run 14.61 @ 98 mph (on the same tires w/ 2.4 60'.

Having a restricted system can really mess things up. I was making my turbo work really hard to get 10psi, and when I opened her up a bit I was getting over 14.

2 days from now I'll be at the track with the catback completely off on slicks. I might be able to make that list. We'll see :)

I went 108mph will the stock turbo, full weight a little under 3700lbs, (only spare tire removed, full tank of gas) stock engine and stock headgasket. I am now in the process of changing the headgasket, raising the compression, p&p the head, intake and exhaust, and a 3angle valve job. Which will add some power, and for every 100lbs or so you gain about 1mph. So 111 doesnt sound that far fetched to me, with some weight reduction.

Try all you like :naughty:

Gunning for 12.7x this saturday at the Madison Muscle Mustang Shootout...and I'll hit it.

Better tune, less weight (both car and driver...lol), more agressive timing, more boost, sticky tires, a torque converter that's finally working right, and a harder shifting trans.

Oh snap! It's on!!! :biglaugh: I only have this one chance to run a 12 on the stocker...this winter I plan on going much bigger.

Any chance a mod could sticky this thread?

*shakes head* Man, people in the 14s and 13s. I have my work cut out for me. I think there's really something wrong with my Supra then if it's only able to run a 15.6 at 87mph.
O_o... i'd say so :-/.... i'd look into that ASAP

All these people not believing the stock CT times are in complete denial. I'm sorry but the turbo isnt everything about this car. How do people find it not possible to break low 12s with a stock ct? Its like saying no other non turbo car can go that fast lol what a joke. Turbo just adds to the fire, it doesnt carry everything on this car's back.

WOOO HOOOO
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA!!!
I did it. I got over my virus in time to make it to GLD.

60ft - 1.860
1/8 - 8.103
mph - 85.986
1/4 - 12.721
mph - 108.883

Borrowed 245/70/15 nitto DR's on 300zx blades. ~40* at the track. 8psi at the tree, 18psi down the strip. Auto didn't even flinch. The coolant temp was at 140 degrees, the intake and FMIC were given the nitrous oxide treatment prior to my pass to minimize intake temps, and the car was pushed down the staging lanes. Fried the shit out of the nittos in the waterbox....

It fucking flew! I was seriously shaking...I was so happy, I almost wanted to go hug a tree or something.

Screw 13's...Stock turbo mk3's are now solidly in the 12's...I have a lot more respect for this car in its BPU form after seeing that 12's are NOT unattainable, and are apparently getting more common.

Let's hope for an even better season next year! Keep showing the world that 183 cubic inches can damn well get the job done!

Means a lot when the Dr. says good job. Thanks, I'm really happy with my ET. I set a goal, and damnit...I nailed it.

Looks like I need a better goal :biglaugh:

I almost didn't go because I thought it might be too cold for traction. My 60' says otherwise though... Perfect turbo weather.

I read a post on SF earlier, some dude ran a similar time to mine on a stock ct and 5spd....with a 150shot. bahaha! If he hooks, we'll have a stock ct in the 11's. I dunno if he counts for the list since he's spraying though. thoughts?

Well, I finally made it back out to the track after installing the VPC and SAFC-2. With a fresh dyno tune that I had posted earlier in the month, Perfect weather, and a 1/4 tank of 114, I was determained to run the big number for the stock turbo record. Temp was 40 degrees, nice and sunny out with very high pressure, 20 lbs in the hooiser qt pro's and all the cool down time I wanted I ended up with a 12.619 @ 110.81

I was able to build 7 psi on the tree and ran 20 psi the entire run.

I just want to thank "boost PSSH boost" for keeping up the pressure on me and all the freindly banter between us.

Don't let it ever be said that a stock ct will not run 12's ever again!

I'll update the list later on. Nice time! Now, go run a 12.49 and take the #1 slot! I'd love to knock you down a slot, but I am going with at least a 60-1 ct, if not a t4 over the winter. 12.00 is my new goal. Damnit...I wish i could get one more pass in, I know on race gas and 20psi I'd edge you out. ;)

Why isn't Rich on this list? Let alone being #1 on this list.

11.95 E.T. on a stock turbo and stock intercooler...

What's going on here? :dunno: :icon_conf

I'm #2 on the list. I don't count the 11.95 run, that was done with a 75 shot and this list is for no nitrous. the quickest I have gone with out the nitrous is the 12.61. We have 3 inches of snow here again for easter weekend. Our track opened last week, but is closed this weekend due to weather. I will be out next weekend I guess!

My current Supra did a 13.76 @ 105mph a long time ago with a stock turbo.

Full 3" exhaust including elbow, Air Filter and 10psi on an Auto.

I don't have the time slip for it as the previous owner was the one who ran it. He asked me if I wanted it at the time of purchase, but I was only 17 when I bought the car and didn't know why the hell he was handing me a piece of paper with numbers on it! :)
