OK well finally I am now stocking the Nylon rear subframe bushing spacers for sale. I have been driving my car with them for a year now and they are great. There is no more wheel hop and the suspension response is much crisper now, the car doesnt fell "floaty" anymore. It is a very solid feeling. There is a little more road noise transmitted to the body. If you have a noisy diff or gears you will hear them allot more now. My diff was noisy to begin with and now I can hear it more while cruising on the freeway.

The spacers are installed between the subframe and the body of the car. The subframe will need to be lowered and the old rubber spacer that are currently between the subframe and the car will need to be removed replaced with the Nylon ones.

INSTALLATION NOTES: There are six nylon spacers and two metal washers included in each set. Once you have the subframe lowered and the old spacers removed, its a good idea to take a wire brush and clean the body and subframe surfaces of rust, dirt etc., before installing the nylon spacers. The two metal washers go ONLY on the rear two subframe bushings, place the washers on the subframe first, then put the nylon spacer on top. The rear two stock bushings are slightly taller than the front ones, so they need to be spaced about an extra 1/8" with the washer. It is not a hard job and can be done in about an hour or two, with a good floor jack.

The price is $120 + $20 shipping.

Got mine today Randy!
I figured these would have a lip or something to center themselves in the subframe.. They dont seem like they'd control the fore/aft movement very well.

becauseican
09-21-2006, 02:36 AM
They stay centered on the sleeve of the existing bushing. Once its sanwiched and bolted down tight, it cant move, and neither can the subframe.

Just make sure you remove the existing spacers from between the subframe and the body.

I will work on that over the winter, I have some other chassis, suspension ideas I am working on.

$120 is a good deal, what are the +/- versus poly-urethane bushings?

supra90turbo
09-25-2006, 12:28 PM
Downside to these, y13 is there will be more NVH.
Upside, less subframe movement compared to poly.

Will this fit the MX83 subframe? Mine are very loose and I've been looking for something like this. Do you have measurements perhaps?

supra90turbo

NVH: Noise Vibration Harshness. It's what the automakers stay away from when they make hollow rubber squishy bushes.
I <3 NVH. lol

Ill be in for a set of these later this year. Maybe the end of this month.

Yes I am still working on the next batch. Sorry guys, I have just been sooo busy. I am thinking of making them out of a High density Nylon instead of aluminium. It will not transmit as much noise / NVH and it should be a little cheaper scince the price of aluminum and other metals is going up everyday. Would you guys still be interested?, I also sent an email about a group buy to the mods, but I havent heard back yet.

Whats the difference in long term durability between the nylon and Al?

becauseican
01-23-2007, 01:14 PM
I think the nylon will last just as long.........remember the Nylon suspension bushings that used to be available years ago?, I havent heard of any problems with those, and those are all on moving, wearing suspension parts. The BIC inserts are sandwiched between and dont move.

bwest
01-23-2007, 01:39 PM
I think that is a great idea Randy. I don't know if you were looking to have them sleeved at the bolt hole, but the nylon should be a big improvement over the stock rubber (new or not) without being as harsh as the alum (sound wise).
