I gotta say I was impressed! Very smooth with more then enough power. Its how the mk3 shoulda been from the begining! I still love my loud and rough 7m so I don't see myself making the swap, but I see what draws you to it. I'll still throw in some cheap shots but its all in good fun! I guess I can now accept that rakkasan is doing the swap. As if it mattered :biglaugh:

I've never had the priveledge, but I wouldn't mind having one. I may do a swap if mine tears up. I may go 2jz though. It's alot of money, but I plan on keeping my car for a long time...........lol

Chains can't even hold your beast, Nate..............lol

kwnate: good! Was it a stock 1JZ or did it have some power? Because we know you've built your car to have some extra power, so it wouldn't be fair if what you got in was a stock 1JZ :)

Well it doesn't seem as if they were racing so I don't think Nate would expect a mostly stock car to perform at the same level as his car with upgraded turbo and all that good stuff. Even if he had 1000hp, he'd still be able to get a good feel for what the 1J is like in it's stock form.

The 1j had intake, exhaust and ebc. I'm not comparing it to mine, cuz I destroyed him on the street :biglaugh: I'm comparing my car when it was bpu, to this 1j that is also bpu.

To the person complaining about the crossmember: get BIC Performance motor mounts, they are wonderful and solve the crossmember problem.

If i was to ever go JZ i'd never go half ass... if your going to swap put the best in! 2JZ or 1UZ would be my only options

I hardly consider a 1J 'half assing' a swap.

I'm sorry, but I don't see how the h**l putting an engine in a car that came in it from the factory is "half-assing" anything. If I listed to all the people who ignorantly told me to swap a chevy 350 into my supra and call it a day, then I would consider that half assing it (no offense to the v-8 swaps...we all have our reasons for things). I've noticed one thing in this forum...it seems like the people that trash talk the 1J are people that have never had one... putting in a 1J is not half assing anything!

mine came like it ... From the factory which i was told.. And my car only has 73000 km on it

I built one of each so I don't have to choose which is better, just which one I feel like driving that day! :naughty:

Calling a 1jz "half ass" is just insulting and flat out wrong, btw.

Would you care to explain this to me? I would like for you to feel in the blanks so I know where we stand. I see the lol, so hopefully it's not bad, cause I haven't said anything negative towards you.

Aaron, you know IJ wouldn't say anything negative towards a supra motor of any sort. Just being funny with OneJoeZee.................lol

In the shop right now we have two mk3 1jz swaps, the 2jz mk3 back for a fuel pump upgrade and sway bars, and a 7m-gte mk3 build using a brand new short block and a bunch of upgrades.

I say this because I think I am qualified to talk about the differences of each engine without bias and without making nonsense comments just to make arguements start. :icon_razz

I compare the 7m to a classic muscle car. It is not the smoothest running engine, but it just puts you in your seat and sounds mean.
There is also that feeling of accomplishment you get from making the engine that came in the car make big power!

The 1jz is so much fun to drive. It revs higher, feels smoother, has better throttle response, and in even stock form can take out most cars on the road. Once the twins spool it GOES!

The 2jz has that low end torque from the sequential setup but pulls very hard after 4500rpm. It is basically the updated and improved 7m.
It has more power output then the previous two and more potential if raw power is what you want.

BTW, I started this thread to say that I was impressed and I see why people would swap to the smaller displacement engine. Choose what suits you best outta those three, they are all going to make you smile!

Very well said Kwnate, but one of the three, and I'm not saying which one, will make you cry. Facts of life. I know it, you know it, we just have to deal with it. Now having said that, I think the guys like yourself, that really do a first rate rebuild, will probably not have to go through another rebuild. I think if you do it right the first time, you're set. We just don't get many rebuilds like yours, IJ's,Duanes, Hardcharger's,ReighnMakers,Hellslegion. I know there are a few more, and I apologize if I missed yours. No offense. Most of our rebuilds are just the headgasket. No block resurfacing, or head work, etc. When mine goes, I'm using some of the above mentioned as a guide.

To my motor: Please don't tear up anytime soon....................lol

I Just Put a hole through the side of my block. Man did i cry. I have deffinatly used peoples feedback about the engines and doing the swaps themselves to judge what was the best route for me.

I haven't had the pleasure of sitting in and getting to experience a 1J or 2J but to listen to you guys talk about is a ton of great info and very helpful

Thank you!

Now i just need enough cash to do a swap :3d_frown:

ya back to pre 89 members i use bic mounts they are an upgrade using the solid mounts over the 89+ ones. for the price of 1 new liquid mount from toyota get the bic mount kit and use the hard rubber ones they last longer can hold up more power and dont break. i think the hard rubber mounts are about 23$ and you can get them from a junk yard used because they dont break normaly not easily.
