A couple of nights ago I'm coming back from the video store in downtown Corvallis, headed south on 4th toward hwy20 (for those of you familiar with Corvallis since I know some of you are.)

This guy in a slightly lifted 4.0L cherokee is sitting to the right of me at the light, when the light changes he stomps on it! He's got some balls in it with at least a big exhaust, but I know, its a 4x4. I was like, W/E! 'cause the lights are timed in downtown Corvallis for 25mph. So I get to speed and start timing the lights so Im hitting them perfect without having to slow down. meanwhile he is stomping on the gas then the brakes for each one. The last light before heading over the bridge comes up and I can tell he figured out that Im timing it...and we both hit the green light at about a perfect side by side 25mph start.....

I hear him getting into it, so I roll on the throttle full. By the time we hit the bridge (its about a 35mph corner going under the overpass) I took his lane and got back out of the gas. The climax was short and sweet, but the lead up had me nervous (my car inst exactly quiet, and that part of corvallis is a MASSIVE speed trap being 25zone even up onto the hwy20 ramp)

I just dont normally street race, but I'm getting tired of all these guys thinking they can take my N/A! In fact when I do get the chance to show off a little, I feel even better knowing Im not foolin' even though I ain't spoolin'!

Im pretty sure you're just joking but here is my responce anyway....

Bite me!

and another thing, what makes being turbo so special? anyone with a gas pedal and a right foot can make a car go faster, but knowing what your doing (in my case knowing when not to race takes far more skill than stuffing your foot into a turbo), and picking the right moments to let lose a little is half the fun of owning any sports car. Like I said in the title, I dont normally race, at least not against other people....basically because people suck! I race myself, and if you think I always win, you're wrong...its almost impossible to beat yourself.

for me, owning a car that I enjoy is more important than knowing its faster than the next schmuck to come down the turnpike. Afterall, performance is just money in action. Some of you Turbo guys think your cars are gods gift to motorsports. A fair amount of them are junk and hardly anything more than Turbos on wheels. The guys that really love their rides show it in their artistry under the hood, and on the sheet metal that covers it, and in the "office" where they do their "work". Me? Im more about the journey than the destination.

You make do with what you have and what you can afford...for me right now thats an NA...and I'll be damned if I feel like I need to apologize for owning it, and the next time I get the urge to point my left toe, make sure you look up cause I'll be pointing my middle finger as well! :thefinger

and dat's da name a dat tune!

hate to break it to you but the one you hit the gas with is the right foot, dyslexia much?

Me? Im more about the journey than the destination.
Word i have a friend who just bought an 87 vette, that thing is so modded i can't even begin to list whats done to it. One hell of a machine, it impresses me. but one thing i must say about it is, it would've been so much more bad ass if HE had built it instead of just forking out the $12K to the previous owner who built it from the ground up.

Maybe you were talking about automatics, and how they brake spool the turbos, that you need a left leg:icon_bigg

Weezl, I just got to give you mad props for your writing skills and passion for your car. I would never own a NA,and I'm just as passionate about my turbo'd supra as you are about yours. I think OJZ was just playing, but way to stand up for yourself and your car.................lol

no one Joe, you took ME wrong...I said I was pretty sure you were kidding, and it wasnt a personal thing. Something just came over me to write that. I kinda just wanted to sum up how I feel about personal choices. I think alot of us here at SM are passionate about our cars regardless of how they breathe, I just wanted to point out how we should respect one anothers passions.

And I edited the op to include a few smileys to show my intent.

One can tell, you have not been properly introduced to the glorious world of forced induction, my young weedhopper... or you would not have posted such a stupid query!!!

One ride in a car like KWNates, or Duane Stephens, and you would have the answer you are seeking.
And, oh yeah, N/A's really shouldn't race, people will think Supra's are piles of slow shit!!! Sorry... but it's true!:biglaugh:

Its responces like that that give Supra owners a bad name. Be proud of what you drive and I will be proud of what I drive. Did you stop to think that not everyone drives a certain kind of car only because its fast or not?
Ive driven plenty of fast cars...the fastest being a chop top '67 Chevy II with a blown 427 that ran in the 10's, called "Plum Crazy". Ive also gone over 160MPH in a built IROC Z...so trust me, Im no stranger to speed.

But I think you missed the point...just because my supra isnt as fast as most of you Turbo guys...it is as fast as the people I choose to race. If you think that gives your turbo a bad reputation, your wrong...the bad reputation comes from guys with bad attitudes....have you looked in the mirror today?

Finally, I wont justify my stomping on the pedal to you anymore, like the title says Im not a racer...but it has nothing to do with the car...it has to do with maturity.

Okay, go ahead and have your fun...albeit sloooow fun! LOL! Just do the real Supra owners a favor, and make sure there are no witnesses, to another N/A getting it's ass kicked!!! I personally know they are slow, I used to own one!:icon_razz

P.S. Your video was pretty cool though, I have to give you credit for that!:icon_bigg
