how does this compare to the full blockoff plate that JBL used to make (MDC still does? )
is that all you have to block off in the back? what about the other hole?
Can this be installed without pulling engine??

this is a very nice piece! Excellent quality!I know because I just bought one.
The other block off plates only block off the intake side yet the egr cooler is still holding all that heat in the back off the head. This is the true way to eliminate the egr and egr cooler.
CNew: You not only bought one but were the reason this came to be :)

JBL made the 2 small EGR plates and 1 large block off plate for cooler.
Asking if this tiny one is all you need instead of the 1 large one for cooler?
And do you have to remove engine to install?
lol
Really you ( IJ ) are the reason these came to be. I wouldnt have known there was a need if you didnt show me Cnew's thread.
I am pretty confident you can install these in the car. A friend here in AZ installed a motor and forgot to put the factory piece on and was able to install it (the factorypiece) and the gasket, and it has 8 bolts not 2.
And yes bcg04 this is the only plate you need to contain the exhaust gasses. You will still need to block the EGR inlet at the intake manifold, Im working on that as we speak too.

A complete kit to remove the EGR would kick ass..

You *CAN* install this with the engine in the car. I have pulled the existing EGR cooler and reinstalled it without pulling the engine, and this is much easier.
That said, it's still going to be a damn tight fit. :)

Arz: Thanks I was going to jump in and do these but I really don't get any free time as it is these days and something like this while small and easy can take many hours in the admin side of things! (packing and shipping and collecting funds)

holy smokes! radiused edges! yet ANOTHER great product!
don't forget to make one to block off the port on the intake manifold as well....
Doc: We don't get EGR here at all so I've never seen one but our Intake is unblocked? (the hole doesn't actually go anywhere)

ummmmmmmmmmm....look @ the "back" of your intake manifold (where the vac nipple is), you'll see another block off plate....
That might work if I had a stock intake here ;)
(got a pic?)

25628 is where the EGR valve connects to the stock intake manifold....agreed that 25627 is useless provided you block off the port from cyl 6.
Thanks that helped heaps!
(as I said we didn't get any of that junk here and just had the single blockoff behind the head)
Can't say I ever noticed one on the Intake but will have a look at a spare parts motor tomorrow and see if it's there! (been so long since I've had a stock intake)

if you have the block-off plate on the back of the head, you have the block-off plate on the intake manifold....
Im trying to decide if I should offer that block off plate for the back of the manifold with a vacuum port or not. Maybe I will do two different ones.
Also a custom gasket wouldnt be cost effective when ultra copper is something everybody can get at NAPA.

the block off on the back of the intake is available off of any block. I used the block off that was on my spare motor by the oil filter. I then mounted up the egr to make it appear visible if I ever get stopped.
Cnewthe block off on the back of the intake is available off of any block.
I dont follow? Am I alone?

I should have said that on the engine block itself is a block off plate located next to the oil filter that works for blocking off the hole on the upper intake manifold. Its the one with the M on it

ARZ - I think that was a good idea offering it with a vacuum port. Great place for speed density folks or boost controller.
A couple of months ago I happend to have both of those parts in hand and that block off plate with an "M" in it dosent actually fit the back of the intake manifold. It IS a different size.

On the head does the big hole in the center, looks to have a plug in it, go to anything? or is that a factory plug?
Thanks
Yea that goes to the water galley I think!?!? I have never removed it so Im not 100% sure, but Im pretty sure you cant remove it from a running engine.

so is there a kit with all 3 plates now or is it still just the 2?
Sorry for the confusion theres just the ONE.
I am working on the other one that goes where that gasket DR Jones mentioned. It will look like this

no i mean ones without vacuum ports. 1 for the back of the head, 1 for the side of the head, and 1 for the intake manifold, do you have a set or kit that includes those 3 plates?
Nope sorry I only have that one for the back of the head at the moment.

If you block off the EGR port, will you get an error code? I hate to see the check engine light on.
