I'm looking around for the best gt40 pricing/shipping....
I was exploring yahoo.com and came across amazon.com (had no clue what it is) but after I played with it a bit it showed basically all the gt40 turbos..
gt40-82
gt40-88 spl ??? <--- what is the difference from the basic
gt40-88
gt40-67
gt40-67r <---------- YEAH BALL BEARING!!!
And so on with prices...
All the turbos come off of HPF.com
http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=nb_ss_auto/104-0959498-4066369?url=search-alias%3Dautomotive&field-keywords=gt40&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go
The question I have is whats the difference form the gt40-88 spl then the gt40-88??? They both have the 88mm inductor... My only guess could be the A/R raitos are different... Anyone knows the diffrence?? The price is good and all so I think I figured out the turbo I want..

Dont know what spl is, but there is a gt40-88 and gt40-88R (R denotes ball bearing).
They will all come with large exhaust housings, I would ask to have a custom one put on. (mine is .81a/r)

ken-
the exducer is 88mm, not inducer.
not sure what the spl version is, dont see a listing for it from pte or garrett website.
also, the 4082 and 4067 are completely diff.
i sell for pte so if i can be of any help let me know. im sure i can beat almost anyone's price.

Would a gt4088 with a .81 a/r be good for 500rwhp and still pull me into the 11's. One day.... Would it spool pretty quick? Yeah I wasnt to sure about the gt40-88spl version, I never heard of it plus Garrett doesn't show it on there site.. But HPF.com still states that it well do 750hp.!
Yet the so-called gt4088 spl specs are.
GT40-88 SPL GT Series Turbos Only - GT40, 750hp, Comp Trim/Hsg: 88 mm, 54 Trim (0.72 A/R), Turbine Trim/Hsg: 73 Trim (0.81 A/R)
Most other gt40's have over a 1.0 a/r (hot) so is this custom? Would I be better off with the other verison gt4088..??

Hey EvoLuTioN, I think amazon.com is a search engine for things to buy... they do anything I guess from turbos, tvs, to clothes..
Hey dbsupra90, could you get a Garrett?? gt4088.. I'm not sure if Precision is linked with them by chance... If so what do they usually run with a .81 or .94 (no sure if the .94 well be good)..
Thanks Ken, you could PM me if your like.

BTW: I believe the SPL is the DBB version, like the R... *mine says GT4067R-SPL* 81AR is the standard housing for the BB versions... Also, the GT4067R is the hybrid custom GT40 in the series and flows the most air, with a 67mm inducer...
But to answer another one of your questions: the gt4088 will be plenty for 500hp... Even the GT35R...

The 88 is overkill for 500hp, un-needed lag.
the 35R or the standard 40-82 would be more suited to a 500hp goal and will spool quicker.

is the gt40-88spl is considered as a DBB why is it cheaper then the basic gt40-88???
I'm just trying to get near 450-480rwhp (pump) and higher alot higher with 110 lol.
I dont know if this has ever been done, but this turbo should be pretty good to make that forum of power. Yet I'm always wondering if it well spool good.. I want something with hit 20psi 4k. lower the better but could also hold the boost once I get head work.

no the spl isnt a dbb. they still note those w/ a R or Z.
blackout- well it depends. if your goal is pump gas mid boost or race gas high boost it is totally different. example, the 4082 is a much smaller turbo and running the guts out of it you could make 500rw. the 4088 on the other hand you can make 500rw on pump gas level boost.
yes the pte turbos are garrett turbo chra. i would recommend the smallest t4 housing available for it, which is the .81
as far as pricing, i can probably beat those shown on the site. pm me for discussion.
i sense ian will have one soon enough ;)
Nah if I wanted one I'd have it ;)
500rwhp is plenty on street tires.

The biggest advantage in running the 4067R would be that it would make the 500 at lower boost but as LPG is 104 octane from the pump I'm not bothered.

Howard from NY made 562whp with 22psi (21.5 I think) at 4500rpm with a gt4088
Ken: Not to be a cocknose or anything but if 2K for the turbo is disturbing the supporting components needed will give you heart palpitations.....
You can't just bolt this on and expect it to work ;)

Kell, what other supporting mods are you doing? What kind of fuel, forged internals, head work, ffi, exhaust.............???
It's like IJ said, this isnt cheap... But if you wanna play, you gotta pay, and pay alot... Take a look through some of these build threads, there's some serious fundage being thrown around in there... IJ, Nate, Steve, Ron, and even me..... Just between the 5 of us there is well over $60,000 worth of "mods" right there... And trust me, Im being very VERY minimal with that number... Hell, IJ and Ron probably have over $60k between the two of them...
All Im saying is, if you want to do a 480hp pump project with "lots" more on 110, than you have GOT to be willing to completely deconstruct your motor and put an insane amount of "money is no object" modifications into it... Or else, it wont last, let me repeat that, because it's just so important: IT WONT LAST!
Good luck with your build...
BTW: talk to Sean over at Titan Motorsports... That's where I got my turbo and MANY other parts...
KKell83

I'm not 100% sure what my mod list well be, I totally agree with the saying "you gotta pay for play".. The turbo for 2k dollars to me its not overly that bad for what you get, but like most people it well be more realistic to get a non-ballbearing (depending on their application) and use the rest buying fuel, exhaust, etc..
I know for a "FACT" I'll be spending alot of money. Like people say chose 2 of these... If you already didnt guess it I'm looking at fast / realible.. So its not going to be cheap..
-cheap-
-fast-
-realible-

One thing that ought to be mentioned is the what some people put turbo vendors through when ordering or not ordering. I buy all my turbo parts from Dave B. and Dave H. and not just because they are friends of mine, but because they stand behind what they do and will go the extra mile for you. Alot of times they deal with 20,000 newbie questions about what do you think this turbo will do and what about this one and can I get this and that without going postal. Alot of times all they get in return is having someone take all the research they did the footwork on and buying from someone else. Bottom line is for most people a turbo is a major purchase and there are alot of questions on alot of different options to discuss. It's nice to find people that aren't afraid to tell you about different options, turbo characteristics, pricing, and availability even without the promise of a purchase from them.
