Throw a belt

Last night i was playing with a guy in a turbo vw just haveing fun the last time i got on it i thought it would get serious well it did and now i threw my powersteering belt, this my friends is the third time i have done this and now :eek: i am fishing for answers.

u sure you have it tightened down enough and theres nothin in the grooves on the pulley?

yeah i would check the play on the bearing...if its wobbling it could easily wobble off... as well as the fact that you are pulling it nice and tight when installing it...the PS pump is a PITA to lift up to tighten sometmies...

I have had it off twice and the mounts are solid and tight unless there is something going on with the pump itself maybe i should replace it, the pulley is not tweaked and everything tracks true. I am going nuts, i have checked all the obvious stuff and i am at a dead end. Short of replacing the pump i need a hand.

to fix: get NEW belt, different pump and tighten properly...good to go :D

The belt might have a snapped strand under the rubber and this will cause it to track off the pully!

The belts get shredded each time, i think i am just going to get a new pump and say screw it. Thanks guys.
