i just did a head job and when i was cleaning out the intake manifold, i noticed there's a butterfly door that sits between the 6 runners... Right in the middle... I'm guessing it's the dashpot or something? well I was wondering what is was and what it does and what vaccum hose to connect.

That is part of the ACIS system. Basically the butterfly valve alters the shape of the runners from short to long in order to give the car both low and high end hp. Search ACIS on this forum for more info on it

Hey 1 tuff. Your car reminds me of my ride so much. The way everything is clean and straight. Our engine bays would be mistaken for family members. I hope yours let's you sleep at night. mike

lol, thanks man. It was a hidden jem i found in my coworkers garage for $1000 bux. But right now it does keep me up at night, ever since Ive been doing this NA-T thing im so excited I havent been able to sleep right, lol. But I am a true car enthusiast, Ive been this way for as long as i can remember.

Right on. I'm going to do some things but I am going to keep it strictly ge. I like the car without being able to spool. It's plenty, my old lady probably wouldn't ride with me in it if It had a turbo anyway.

Yeah, GE's are pretty cool. I drove my buddy's 1j, and my car has better Initial Power response, but after the Twins Spool there's no comparison lol. I'de like my GE alot more if i had some aggresive cams so i can make some better high rpm power like 6500-6800rpm... I spun a rod bearing in My GE recently so i'm trying to decide, Built GE or GTE....

aaaaaah to swap, or not to swap. 2jzgte other than that....., rebuild. It's only an opinion and there's a reason it is free. DO the gte swap, it's equally painfull i'd imagine, but less costly. I'm sticking with the n/a, for now.

I remember reading in a thread some where that its possible to use the 2jzge intake mani. You use the lower part from the 7m and have the 2jz upper part welded. I believe the poster refered to the 2jz ACIS butterflyis on steriods compared to the 7m.Im sure theres gains to be had,but nobody has done yet as to my knowledge

I dig going fast and all of that, but right now I am shooting for a daily driver.

That was me...no I did not finish it. But there has to be hp gains in that mod. I do plan on doing it to see how much hp it makes vs ITBs.

The pics you posted you could clearly see the difference. I wouldnt think it would make as much of a gain as ITB'S but i think it would be a good bang for the buck mod.

What if someone came up with a secondary intake runner manifold? Where there are 6 extra runners that only open up at around 4-5k to give better high rpm power while using the acis system for good low end torque. Like vaccum operated butterfly doors that open at a certain vaccum/rpm. It would sound cool to, and it would probably be real loud once they open up.
