I bought an 87 supra auto about a couple months ago. This car has been sittin for about 2 years. Took it in to get a tune up, replace the radiator and the hoses. The car runs like shit! The tranny shifts rough to second but from then on it's like running on 2 cylinders! I would lay on the gas but it barely moves! Once in a while it will downshift and bam there it goes puttin along the road. I already know that I have a tranny problem but what else can it be? Help! Recommend places in so-cal that would do good work and wont fuck me.

well...considering the sitting for two years part that, to me, would be a hint that something major went wrong and the owner didnt feel like shelling out enough to get it fixed... but i dont know what it could be....
time to start considering a 5spd swap! hehe.....
how does your engine sound? hopefully it's ok and it's just your tranny.

Where in So Cal?
LA?
OC?
San Diego?
The places I know that knows something about Toyotas, other than dealers, does mostly rebuilds, not maintanance. But they'll probably do maintenance too for a price.

What hoses would that be? The radiator hoses have been bustin up one by one. I think it would be easier to have a supra expert fuck with the car. Complete tune-up was done to the car if what you meant by plugs.

If the engine seems to run ok, but bad with a load, you could have an engine problem.
Anyway, inside the torque converter is a one way clutch. When it goes bad, it will slip either direction. When that happens you have no torque multiplication. Your car will be very sluggish, but seem to be ok at higher speeds. I havent driven your car, so I dont know.

Also, you have to realize that the N/A's aren't very quick in general, they are "quick" in the sense that you can move the 'Tank' with some force, but it's really the weight of the car that can kill the performance of it.
