loss of power

well the was running ok just didnt have power at all, couldnt feel it pull as it did the day before and it was idleing around 1100 which usully is at 800, so i poped the hood and played around with the wires to the green harness that leads to distribtor or what i call the cps for some reason, well i unpluged it and pluged it back in and now its running strong, how is it posiable that those wires can increase rpm and kill alot of power i am so ready to splice them lol,

any toughts?
