What is the best way to start cleaning out the engine bay? Do I really need those heat shields on the side of the engine? I just want to start making room for getting in there and turning those wrenches.:3d_frown:

I would keep the shields, they have a pourpose. I took the big one off the turbo and half-assed polished it,and it turned out REALLY well.Just go through your hoses making sure you have no leaks, then start tucking them away or extending them to fitBUT being as you live in Kentucky i'm sure your smog laws are almost non-existant,so you can chuck the charcoal canister

The heat shields arent that much in the way. Just a few nuts on each and there off.

Toyota put those heat shields there for a reason! I would leave them on, theres many other things you can do!

take them off only to clean them up and cleanup whats underneath but i would suggest keeping them on there :)

thanks guys......., I tend to agree with NDboost, ans a few others of you. Thanks alot. I was thinking I would remove the cover on the distributor cap. Things along those lines. The kid I bought it from says it has new bosch and platinum plugs. It does need new wires. I want to get in there and check the cap and rotor. After I get the new clutch in. And repair my bhg. YA.
