Does anyone here actually have headers on there 7MGE? i mean, the stock manifolds look pretty capable but I was just wondering if dropping $200 would be worth it and when i say worth it I mean 10+ HP

Not sure of the gains but they look a hell of a lot better. Not all rusted. And if you replace the header, then u might want to look at replacing the studs as well.

I have a Pacesetter header that was ceramic coated. Sounds tight and alot more preformance @3000 rpm+. For sure it's worth it! Yeah, it does look cooler than stock LOL.

I have the OBX headers and midpipe and i noticed a gain, they also give you a better tone to your exhaust. they also weigh next to nothing compared to the stock. So id say it was worth it

I don't have a header (yet!!), but I think anything the removes restrictions from the system is always going to be a good thing for performance!

I would say if you can get it cheap enough go ahead, but IMO it's not really that noticable of a difference. You will notice a small change in mid and top end but not enough to really warrant spending too much on it. I used to have an N/A with a pacesetter. So I guess it really depends on what else you plan on doing.

I decided to only go cat-back so when i go 7mgte i can just lead it over to my cat-back
Any of you NA guys have any real world data on the headers V's stock swap?
(I think the stock manifold isn't such a bad design and can't see much gain to be had)

The biggest bang for the buck is to replace the lower section of the header with a full 2.5" pipe. We custom make those for about $150.
The full header has more potential in the top end, but at the top of the powerband. I was able to see the difference in a header vs stock when I attempted a top speed run and was able to go 18MPH faster with a tubular header vs a stock header.

they pretty much look the same between the the stock and the peacestter. i was wonder the same thing if it was worth putting on. i got one new for 150 tho so i might put it on.

I doubt it, considering its basically a direct replacment.

Nope, you'll probably wanna wrap the pacesetter in something to cool down the in engine temp so you won't fry everything

I bought headers but never installed it. I forget what the brand was. I took it out of the box, looked at the stock mani, and decided it looked almost identical to the stock mani. The only big difference was that you had to weld the collector on the header.
So I never installed it.

Will save ya $$$ for something else the stock header is a pretty well designed piece and will be quieter than a thinwall tube header!

How bout a good port and polish of the stock manifold, do you think there would be gains to be had going this route. It would ceretainly be cheaper than buying a new header, but at the same time headers for our cars arent really expensive anyways

The header I had was suppose to be smog legal. You can check the California Aftermarket Parts Device Type Listing of Executive Order at
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php
If its listed and you get it, print a copy of the Executive Order and keep it in the glove box. You'll need it for smog inspections and law enforcement (when they're a.s h.les).
