I've been wanting to know about your guys' mods, and how they've improved both performance and gas mileage. I've been looking into getting 2.5" exhaust, intake, lightened flywheel, performance clutch, and coilovers. Tell me your mods and how they've improved your car compared to stock.

I have put Borla exhaust and Magnaflow Cat with a Pacesetter header.(2.5") Also I have put Shrick cams in and ported the intake. MHG and K&N. I am adding an electric fan that I got off my Dodge Caravan. It will wire into the temperature sending unit making it go on at 180F. Anything to keep it cool!! I recently bought ST springs and 17" rims with Eagle Pilots. Actually all the stuff I bought for this car was all off the Turbo Supra Guys....LOL Anyway compared to stock the engine is really sweet and Roars!! It handles like a dream. Last night I raced an Elipse and spanked him. I knew he had a turbo cause I could hear his wastegate scream. Still spanked him!! He rolls down his window and goes " does that have a turbo??" I said no and the guy looked dissed!! Ha Ha!!:biglaugh: LOL Long live NA's. We can go too you know!! Nice to see the enthusiasm.

Right now I just have a HKS Super Mega Flow filter. There was a nice increase in power above 4,000 rpm and gas mileage went up by a few miles per gallon.

Gears that are numerically lower means the car will have a higher top speed, but will accelerate slower than a car with numerically higher gearing the stock NA comes with 4.3 open diff, lsd if it has the sport package. The turbo cars come with either 3.9 in the 87-88 cars and 3.73 in the 89-92 cars. If he swapped out the diff for a numerically lower one it will result in slower acceleration, def not something you want in an na

Thanks,

All I have right now, is 2.5" custom exhaust, with 2 18" resonators. I don't like how much it vibrates inside, when I'm driving with the windows up. I think it's the damned muffler that' too noisy. I should change it.
Everything else is stock. I wanna do some BPU's to raise some HP...

I have a k&n FIPK, and custom 2 3/4 in exhaust from the cat back, i have a "dollar store muffler"(3Aracing from autozone, $50 from a friend).Like mentioned the gains above 4000 are exponential. In closed loop the car has great throttle responce. Overall with these two mods, my gas milage has improved atleat 6mpg

My mods are:
Greddy MHG with ARP bolts,Apex-I intake, removed baffle and put in aluminum straight pipe. I don't know the figures but there is better throttle response for sure. There is a drastic loss of power however when the wife is in the car as she does not like the sound when I floor it.

Best performance mod by far is my headers and exhaust. Had a small gain from removing the airbox and using a K&N air filter, no noticeable gain in power but smoother running from a set of MSD plug wires, but nice increase in throttle response and upper rpm power with the doug thorley headers and 2 1/2 inch catback. Still not enough though so the GTE engine goes in next week:icon_evil

Hey guys! I wanted to know some oppinions before I wen't ahead and decided on anything. First off, I am searching the market for an exhaust system, the whole thing. I have my eyes set on 935's 2.5" exhaust system, ( Stainless of course) and I'll more then likely use the muffler I have. As for a cat, I might go magnaflow or something along those lines, but I wan't to know all your oppinions on some headers, and really what works and dosnt!
1) Pacesetter: I've heard good and I've heard bad thing about these. If someone could shead some light on them that would be outstanding!
2) OBX: I have no idea about these so if anyone has info do tell!
3) Jim Hall: These are suppost to be perfect fits, ceramic coated, and port matched. These sound like kickass headers but one problem...where can I get one?
4) Doug Thorley: These look like awesome headers, and I've seen one good post about them. Problem is are they worth the money, and I only found they fit the MKii?
5) PAECO: I know nothing about them.
This is what I found so far. So if any of you know anything about anyone of these share. I need headers...

I think if you are looking for new ones you might have a problem. The set of doug thorleys I have fit my mkiii fine. I did modify the bottom of one of the runners to give better clearance from the ground and the x-member but they fit good. Great upgrade for the NA and although they are hard to find they are probably the best 7M headers out there. I believe they are the same as the TRD headers were. Mine will be for sale soon so look out.......
(shameless sales pitch I know:naughty: )

you guys need to buy an exhaust. I think that a 3" exhaust is perfect for a 3.0l motor. I had a 2.5" exhaust on my NA eclipse (2.0l motor) and the difference was def profound. From my point of view it is more than capable of handling your power needs yet not big enough to hinder performance. What you guys have to remember is that backpressure for any car is bad. What you want is the maximum exhaust gas velocity. But with that exhaust on my eclipse and minimal mods, meaning a intake and upgraded TB, I was able to drop over a second off of my 1/4 mile time (from a 16.57 to a 15.46 and for an NA 2G eclipse that still seems to be a time that is in the top ten ever even though at the time it was the 2nd fastest). Dont be so scared of going bigger than a 2.5" exhaust on your car. You will appreciate it later
