I just need a few questions answered to satify my curiosity if you dont mind.
Q1) What turbo's will bolt up to the 7mgt stock manifold?
I know the sp61gt will. Are there any more?

Q2) What is the difference between the t3 flange and the t4?

Q3) What is the stock 7mgt flange? isit a t3 or t4?

Q4) Can someone explain what a V band is?

Ive heard about the above but i just need to get it explained in simple terms if possible.

If anyone has pics to help explain please post them up.
Thanks.
Mik.

1. there are a couple SPxxGTs that will fit it, and the BOSS series fits. (suprasport.com)
2. don't know
3. neither, its a specialty thats why only a couple turbos fit it.
4.don't know.

1- im not sure.
2- i believe that the T3 bolt pattern is 3.375'' x 1.75" and the T4 bolt patern is 3.250'' x 2.750''... - somebody correct me if im wrong-
3- ^ like mkIIIman089 said- its neither
4- a v-band is a circular clamp instead of a traditional flange- ever seen an HKS T51R? - they have v-bands..

I'm pretty sure these turbonetics turbos bolt right up to the stock manifold.

That's the best deal I've been able to find so far.

T3 = 1.75" x 3.38"
T4 = 2.75" x 3.50"

what type of oil feed and return setup is needed for those turbonetics turbos... that does seem like a good deal!

Buy a SP (Sound Performance) turbo from Horsepowerfreaks.

I have a SP61GT and I'll probably have it installed (before anybody even starts, give me a break) in October after my Supra gets shipped back to CA. I'd love to tell you something about it from my experience but I can refer you to CPT. Furious. He switched from a T61 (???) to a SP61GT and he loves it. Give him a shout.

SP61GT is nice no doubt about it... but it's also $300 more.

gixxer, I don't know if it uses the stock oil lines, I'm guessing not because it's a different housing? I'm going to find out more in the next week or two because I have to order a turbo soon.

$300 more than what? A T3/T4? Oh yeah, then you can run the same damn turbo that so many fags with Civics are running. That's exciting!

It's obviously a reliable turbo, and not to knock the Supra guys with them, but you can go with something a little more exciting than that, ya know?

Look for Bolt on T-66s coming out in the future. I can also get the BOSS
line of turbos cheaper than suprasport. email me off-list for info. I'm working
with MDCMotorsports and coming up with a few bolt on turbo kits for the MKIII.
(so everyone who has been asking, you'll see what I've bveen doing the last
few months).

SP7M I'm referring to these Turbonetics turbos:
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/price/Toyota/Supra_86-92/Turbonetics/Turbos/Turbo_Kits

They're 500+hp capable, that's not lame at all.

If I had $1200 to spend, I'd rather get a Tubonetics turbo + wideband instead of a SP turbo, just my opinion.

Eventually I'd like to get the greddy tubular manifold or the powerhouse hks replica and some huge turbo, but a turbonetics turbo that bolts up to the stock manifold for $850 that comes from a very reputable company is a great deal and an excellent starting point... and just as capable of generating power as your sp61gt.

save your time and get a BOSS and be done with it.

nothing like bolting-on 600hp in an afternoon.

Born2drv-I'm more impressed by Garrett than I am Turbonetics. I like going for as much originality as possible, too, instead of what's popular.

I bought my SP61GT in Nov. or Dec. of '03, pretty much as soon as I could after they came out. I really don't understand why I did it, exactly (lack of intelligent planning), but the fact that it was brand new and that I'd be one of the first to own one (running it is a different story, lol!) was part of it.

To each his/her own. :)

No thanks :) I mean its a nice turbo, but they start at around $1600ish.

I think I may just get an upgraded CT from turbonetics, they're not expensive. I just want to rule out oil leaking from the turbo because my engine is smoking blue smoke at startup and it the engine was just rebuilt and I can't figure out why.

I need to concentrate on getting a reliable and fully restored car before I give it too much juice.

If you looking for a BOSS turbo, for less money, email me directly off-list.

I can get you the equivilant of a BOSS turbo for less money. OR a BOSS
for less than SupraSport will sell them for 8-).

How do you figure? It says $1265, and with new lines $1500. ITS makes much better than a "nice turbo".

If you really price them out, it'll be $1600+. I can get $150-$200 off retail
(useually) for the BOSS turbos. Plus I'm able to get some freshly rebuilt
Garrett turbos and use the BOSS stainless rear housing to make a BOSS-550
style turbo for less $$.

(ok they can be had for less, but most people wanting the BOSS housing are
wanting the stave 5 or P trim, and wanna make 500+rwhp, and THOSE are $1600+)

I believe with the BOSS units, the warranty is void if their lines are not purchased, so in my opinion, it's not an optional thing but a requirement to purchase, and I think for $235 they're kind of hosing you (pun intended) :)

Turbonetics offers a 1yr replacement no questions asked, SP is very flexible in their warranty as well from what I've read.

I'm still undecided what to do, my car is in the shop getting worked on (car audio) then it has an apppointment with the air conditioning people, after all that's done I'll make my decision and buy something.

/\ SP is great with their warranty stuff. ask me i know. they warranty'ed my 61GT even after a year AND they ate the bill for my new compressor wheel! this is one of the reasons i am so pro SP. you call them and you get a person on the phone everytime! you ask a question in their forum and you get an answer quickly. the stock manifold is good to what, 600hp? are you really going to push your car that hard? if not why use a bazooka when a .45 will do the job?

/\ are you really going to push your car that hard? if not why use a bazooka when a .45 will do the job?

But with everything, soon your .45 will not be big enough, so why not just start with a bazooka using smaller ammo, and gradually go bigger.... :biglaugh:

^ thats what I'm going with.. I figure I do all supporting mods so when the funding comes available to go with tubular mani + t60-66 or something along those lines; I will be able to adapt it and go straight for big power.

I think I may be one of the only people to go front facing intake mani on the stock CT26...

hey jeff, i would love to know how you are getting the boss turbine housing when ITS and SS are in direct contract. also i pretty much speak with SS everyday and this is news to me
