Question:
My 89 7M-GTE starts smooth, but won't hold idle speed until it's warmed up. Just bought it and haven't worked on cars since the 70's. In my day this would be a choke problem. Can't see that there are any missing or broken vacuum hoses.
Comments ?????????
Be nice I'm old.

vacuum leaks
CSI (Cold Start Injector) - ask for pic location
TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) - ask for pic location
ISC (Idle Speed Control) - ask for pic location
Boost Leaks
ECU
Check all those AND is your check engine light on? Are you finding that you have to hold your foot on the gas slightly until it picks up and idles on its own?

Yes, I'm holding my foot on the gas slightly (bout 1500 - 2000 rpm) for about ten minutes.
It's not hard starting at all, starts up smooth, but when I let my foot off the gas she dies.
No check engine light either.

sounds like TPS/ISC/Vac Leak Issue
Check your lower intercooler hoses and couplers for the IC Piping etc. Also check the hose for your ISC.
A Local Supra owner' his supra does this samething after a fresh performance rebuilt motor.
