Yeah, it was awesome to finally meet everyone. Everybody post up some videos and pictures! Show allthe losers that didn't come what they missed out on.;)

I got to Greenwood at 10AM yesterday...and didn't get home until about 3AM this morning. Talk about a long day...BUT FUN! We definately will be making this a more common thing (as far as meets go).

Matt, what did ya cut out so early for? You missed some very nice dyno pulls.

I caravanned in with Doug (Black Mk4), James (MSB Mk4) and rode shotgun with Jim (Red Mk3). All from Dayton. The ride out was fun and it was nice to see a large group of Supras.

Congrats again Alan!

Matt, what did ya cut out so early for? You missed some very nice dyno pulls.

Got tired of waiting/trying to find the place. Had things to do other than stand around waiting forever for them to get a car strapped down correctly. The strap over the exhaust was the last straw for me, if whoever was strapping the car down was that lax on a 30 hp car or so, imagine how crappy they would strap a <200hp car down. Plus, since we were running about 2 hours late before we even got there, I figured I would just call it a day.

Shane, All the good footage of your car was caught on Bryan (dsmlaserawd92)'s cam. He needs to get that stuff put on his PC so we can ALL see the good footage of the entire meet! +1 for Midwest Supra's! Awesome meet!!!

MSL was jankey. I expected nothing more than that.

I asked one of the guys that was working the dyno what was wrong with the green mk4. He said it was running lean. The kid adds that he thinks the rings lands are on the way out. Rings lands.. are you friggen kiddin me??? Rings lands are either good or not. No in between. I would not let those fools touch my car.

I do hope no one local is thinking of taking their car over to them for anything. I have other horror stories regarding their "shop".

Well to my regards, I have friends that take their car there frequently for tuning and what not...I doubt I would let them "tune" my car because I don't have that type of trust in them...but for dynoing...I don't really have a problem with it. Besides taking their precious time, it was good for me considering nobody paid. (at least I didn't see anyone pay). Marc is a good guy but I don't know about some of the guys that work there... Oh well. It was still a fun day to get everyone gathered up. Hopefully, we can have a bigger and better meet for next time.

D'oh! I'm pissed -- I set my camera to take pics in medium resolution mode, and it took 2 pics that way. All the rest of the pics I took of the meet were at 640x480 resolution.

I uploaded some stuff in the /eriol directory on that necro-inc site. I particularly recommend the movie "MVI_0134.AVI" -- it's a flyby video that shows just how hard Al's car pulls. :)

I'll create a hyperlink when it finishes uploading.

It was good to meet everybody, though! We had a pretty good turnout.

Thanks to all the people who drove from remote parts to make it -- hope everybody made it home ok.

So next meet...

Little more organized, and I say we meet somewhere and just hang out, have a cookout and hit up a "local" dragstrip...

I'd be willing to host a meet here at my place... we have a huge open field out behind our house to park in, a 2 bay garage if anyone needed it (if you couldn't find the tool you needed, you shouldn't even be around a car *or whatever he says*), a pool... thats about all the +'s I can think of... Oh, and just about any spare parts that anyone could need/want *mkII and mkIII only though* :icon_bigg

The bad news, it's about an hour south of Indy *think IRP* and about 90 mins or so west of Edgewater Raceway (my personal fav) 90 mins from Muncie Raceway *never been to it, but it's another option*

I'm just throwing it out there... if enough people showed interest, we could always cook up a hog :naughty:

Jspec7m88
05-07-2006, 09:25 PM
ahahaha...You M'Fer...My seal for my oil drain plug was leaking BADLY...No worries, once I got home, I put a new sealer in there so it's just fine now. Eat that, Mr. Teal Metallic.;)

Jeb, I've got a monitor but I recently had my laptop reformated and I don't have the drivers to allow my laptop to use External monitors...so it's very frusterating.:( A buddy of mine tried to burn the drivers onto a CD for me but it didn't work so I give up. :(

Sounds good Matt... You should organize one before I have to leave mid July. Also, get with me about those parts. I may be able to make my way to your place sometime this week, or next if you don't plan on being around indy soon.

Jspec7m88
05-07-2006, 09:31 PM
My last post was for Shane(TealMetallicDream)...

Matt, I think that that would be an awesome idea. I don't think there is anybody that wouldn't mind a nice highway cruise from your house to Indy or whatever...It would be a lot of fun. Besides taking a little while to set up each car for the dyno, it was pretty awesome after you left. We will DEF. get something else organized...but question is...should we do it BEFORE Chi2k6 or after? (Chi2k6 is in August). As for people willing to show interest...Heck yeah they are...I think that we just need to make sure word gets around for a while before trying to start a meet. It was a pretty good turnout though...Better than I originally thought up in my mind.:) Any idea's would be awesome and Matt...I'm Korean...I don't eat hogs...I EAT DOGS. ;) lol

I'm goin to bed. Later guys.

When mark finally got the red widebody car on the dyno. Someone asked him, "I bet that made you nervous trying to get that car on the rollers didn't it?". He respons with. "I don't care.. it's not my car."

and I say we meet somewhere and just hang out

That's what I was doing. :dunno:

Just hanging out talking and meeting people. Who has to have organized events to do this? Not me. This all started out as a meet at Hooters. Then the dyno got thrown into it. MSL didn't schedule us due to the group not commiting to X amount of runs that MSL could count on. MSL wanted us to pay X amount for a 4 hour block. Without pre-paying for a dyno.. it wasn't going to happen.

The boys in Dayton have held meets where the organizers pre-payed for the dyno, and lost multiple hundreds of dollars on people not dyno'ing. The shop gets their money, but the guys who dropped the coin to secure the dyno can't recoup their costs. That's out of pocket costs. No sponsorship at all.

Nobody did pay to dyno. I will say that he is not as professional as I would have handled it..and hearing him say "I don't care, it's not my car" is frightening...Well hanging out at Hooters was fine but I hated that so many people showed up EXTRA late...I was wanting to get some nice group pictures and/or cruise TOGETHER...but that didn't work out too well either.

Ya.. this is your first supra meet with more than 5 cars. Most of the meets are just people hanging out. The more people, the harder it is to get everyone to move at the appropriate times.

Hey there is absolutely nothing wrong with just having a little BBQ and hanging out and a little cruise. Dynoing was just a little extra thing that turned out to be half good/half bad. It was at least something to make the meet that much more exciting. (Even though the service/wait was bad).

Well, with that being said...Matt's house it is! :) Hopefully Al's car will be broken in a little bit by then so we can see that beast scoot. ;)

Man I should have dyno'd...

the car pulls sooo friggin hard in 3rd gear from like 60-95 (only went to about 5900, which is well past the point when they normally fall on their faces) ... :nono:
Then I seen a video on Streetfire of an SRT4 on a dyno and the strap breaking and remember what it was about that shop that bothered me.

So, anyone interested in getting together and having a cookout somewhere then heading out to a track? Or hell, Someone needs to invite a group of people up to help with engine swaps etc... feed us, find us a hangout, and we might come. Or bring all the parts and I'd be glad to h elp you in my shop. Like I said before, I 3/4 don't know what I'm talking about 95% of the time. :icon_bigg You just dont want me to get pissed at your tranny lines... Jeff knows what I mean.

*edit*
I'm gonna make a vid of a o-100 of the 82... I swear it feels like I have an extra 50hp. Anyone know of any "local" dyno shops around Columbus/Shelbyville? The only other one I know of is down on the River. *sigh*

Actually, it's a Toshiba Satellite A65-1067....it's has a 2.8 Ghz P4 w/ HT and 768MB of ram, 40 Gig of HDD space, 15" screen, a few minor scraches on the case but the monitor performs outstandingly with no burnt pixels. It includes some stickers on the outside witch you may or may not like to keep, but still kinda cool I guess.

Hehe... yeah, I went a little crazy with pics of the red MKIV. :)

I didn't get so many MKIII pics because the MKIII guys weren't really showing off the way the MKIV guys were. (at least, not while I was standing around with a camera).

Later in the day the Michigan guys and Jeff were having fun, but my memory card was full by then. But I'm sure they'll have lots of pics :)

WOO HOO! After 14 hours of confusion and being really tired, my dying 57 Trim CT26 is off and a good conditioned "stock" CT26 is on. Boost time is better, The spool is louder...and it feels more powerful than ever.
(For the ones who are wondering, we were doing other misc. things besides just swapping turbo's between that 14 hour period.) ;)

Still at a strong 15psi, I still need to break it in just a weee bit. Exactly how many miles should I look at before going back in and retorqing everything?

Hey, let me know if you want help with that... I'm an HP warranty tech, and I've worked on a few of those. I can't get you a deal on parts (our spares prices are outrageous), but I can replace a screen on one of those things in about 10 minutes.

No breakin required for a turbo. Pour oil into the feed port of the turbo.. spin the wheels and let that oil work thru the bearings, pour a bit more oil into the feed port, install turbo, pull a bar of boost out of the driveway.

It is however, very important to prime a turbo. Which is hte process I described above.

Okay, good. I have put about 80 miles on it now and I've already ran full boost acouple times.

BTW, When I dyno'd that wonderful 231rwhp...:(
It was only at 10-11psi and with a dying 57 Trim CT. (Normally 15)
I have a stocker on there right now...but 13 psi will work for me...for now.;)

Thanks for the info, Al.

Matt, the Skittle sounds beautiful...but I decided to go play a little today in the country...I did 0-60 about 5 times (all launching at 1500rpms w/ no boost) and was hitting 60 in UNDER 6 seconds every time. I couldn't imagine it w/ a high stall and slicks off the line...:) O-100 was around 12-13 seconds. Not exact, but yeah. Your skittle sounds like a 2JZ-GE;)
