I am having one HELL of a time re-installing the keepers in my valvesprings and wanted to know if there's a tip or 2 you guys could give me. I got one set done, but there's still 23 morte ahahah and I fought with one set for about 40 mins and gave up for today. I get one keeper in and the other one doesn't want to fall. That's all i can do, I take it out and try again and it happens time after time. I need some tips guys.

Patience is a virtue when putting retainers back in. Its an art by number 24 you'll be an expert.

LOL. I was gonna say the same thing. "By the time you're done, you'll get the hang of it"

It's true, Eric. They really are a pain, and that's all there is to it.

Get a nice valve spring compressor and use a flat head screwdriver to press them in....at least thats how I did it.

A friend of mine works at toyota. Let me borrow their compressor when I rebuilt my other head ( the machine shop dissasymbled it, I put it back together ).

Use some heavy grease on the inside of the keepers to stick them to the valve stem, then dial out the compressor very slowly.

WEAR GOGGLES. Sometimes the little bastards will shoot off there like they are heading for the moon, and you don't want one of those in the eye. Hopefully you won't lose the little beggar when it fires off like that, either.

Good tips fellas. i will try again with some lucas oil stabiliser to stick them to the stems, see if that does anything. I hope my engine doesn't blow up when I get it running, but that's probably what's gona happen :biglaugh:
