What will I need except for the trans. itself? Will I need a different wire harness? I've had people tell me both... I just bought an R154 with "low miles" according to the guy I bought it from. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks all!

did mk3's come with W58 or R154's? My '84 5spd has the W58, and I just wanted to know what years came with R154's. or if it was a mix.

N/A MK3's and MK4's have W58's.
Turbo MK3's have R154's
Turbo MK4's have V160's.

Shaeff, your always answering my questions! Thanks a bunch, although, I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I already have a manual and the closest thing to my swap on the link is the auto to manual thread. Their is a list there that gives me a good idea of what to start looking for. Thanks again.

welcome:)

off the top of my head, i think you'll need:

the tranny, bellhousing, throw out bearing, pilot bearing (just because), clutch fork, front drive shaft, slave cylander, and the transmission support bracket that goes under the tailshaft, as well as the "wing" support brackets that go from the motor to the tranny.

sorry, i thought the info was on mkiiitech, but i guess it was on 4cefed.com, which has been down for a bit... :(

ebay, try people parting out their cars/parts cars, junkyards, ebay, etc... try our for sale section, and post an ad in the WTB section as well. you'll get some hits if you wait a bit. someone's always parting out a car.

sometimes you can get some sweet deals on pre-built 7m's... like rebuilt with upgraded goodies... find one with a 5 speed aqnd swap it in...

I already have the R154. I currently have a W58 w/ an N/A P.O.S rod knocking 7mge. I'm so pissed that this happened right when I get all the parts I need to turbo the engine. I have so much shit it's rediculous. But I still love my supra and will keep dumping money into her.

Oh yeah, even with rod knock I smoked a WRX tonight! To most of the people here thats an insignificant triumph but to my N/A in it's current conditions, it's a feat to laugh about. So I pulled up to the light and had a little chat with the guy. He asked me what I had and I told him my engine is fucked, trans is shitty, and well you got smoked from a seriously crippled engine. I still respect him though, his car is worth A LOT more than mine.... hehehe

Hey NATAN where would you suggest I look for an engine in which you described?

here or supraforums.com

its not often that youll find one, but when people with built 7ms decided to go 1j, thn sometimes they part out, but sometimes they try and sell the engine as a whole. keep an eye out on buy and sell forums.

JDM huh??? I'm definatly weighing my options at this point. You know, trying to find the most cost-effective way to go about it. I thought N/A-T would be easier, and then I got rod knock. I may just rebuild mine...

Get a 7mgte and the harness and swap it in that way. You can ussually find them pretty cheap.
