Hey,

What's the best stereo head-unit for $100-200? I've got two slots in the dash free for a new stereo. ;)

What all functions do you want? MP3 capability? Bluetooth? Cd changer? How many PRE-outs?

MP3 -> yes.
Bluetooth -> not really.
CD changer -> Only need capacity for 1 CD at a time.
pre-out -> hm... not gonna be any crazy stereo, just having 4 'normal'/good speakers in the car, and maybe a 1000-2000W sub.

Honestly, check Wal Mart. They've got a few decent ones there for under $200

Ive always been happy with Kenwoods. And they have tons under $200 with all the functions you wanted. Check em out.

QFT. I feel the exact same way. I've always had good luck getting used radios in good shape off friends. All of mine have been Alpine and Pioneer and I can't think of any other radio I'd rather own.
