turbo on an NA engine

I've heard you can safely put a turbo on an NA mk3 motor with thicker head gaskets and head studs running low boost. Is this true? If so, are there any tips i should know of before doing so?

thats a good forum to look at. and technically yes. I helped a friend rebuild his 7mgte and didn't find too much difference between that and the na. but I'd want to make sure your engines in good condition before slapping a turbo on it
