Where can I get a NEW OEM powersteering pump. I lost my patience with this fucking think leaking. I have 2 that seem to leak from the same damn spot and I am annoyed now.
I heard something about a Lexus one working? Any one have any info?

Do you know if the 2j and 1j are the same? I have a BRand new 2j one that I may not be using. If they are not the same, try calling Champion Toyota. Ron

I duno if they are the same.
Im trying to call Jeff Watson to see if he can get one, but I dunno if there is an alternate to use. I coulda sworn I saw some Lexus one will work.

I just called them , he needs to check with Japan and see if he can get them. He said they have reseal kits.
I am at a loss here. It seems to keep leaking from around the suction tube. I just put a new O ring in the other week and let the car sit and have a puddle again.
I wonder if somehow is something inside it is pushing fluid out the top?? I havent driven it to even put pressure on it. Othere then moving the wheel back and forth a few times to push some fluid to the pump from the canister.

I wonder how it would work with taking the suction tube off and putting some RTV or something in there to seal it better like a gasket or something.

I cant see exactly where its leaking. It just looks like its leaking from the top near the pickup tube.. I took that thing off last night and siliconed it up and put it back on and siliconed all around that gasket between the PS pump pieces and clamped the hose on tighter.
I guess we will see if that helps.

For the hose for that top port. It looks like its a real tight bend going into the pump. Is that normal? Anyone have pics of their pump and hoses from the can?

I drove my car back from Cali w/ a leak in my PS pump...not fun! Anyways, I replaced all the hoses, did a complete flush, and sealed both end from the pump and resevoir. I'll take pics when I get home, btw I have an MK4 resevoir.

itr206

What exactly did you seal and with what?
I wonder if my resovoir is wacked too. Or mabye the hose from the resovoir to the pump is just too tight of a bend causing pressure to build up and leak.
Sometimes I can see fluid around the top of the canister too. So I wonder if its a pressure issue. Im not even driving the car thouh. So this is driving me nuts

I have no problem driving without it. Ive done it in plenty of cars. I just dont like the steering response in this car without it. When you throw it into a wide turn with no PS is feels a little to jerky for me. I want this car to have the best of everything feeling.

Im just saying. I need info. not dumb remarks. I dont wanna delete it. You knew that already. I have good reasons for not doing what you mentioned and I stated that before already. I am looking for a fix.

I put the hose back on tonight with a real clamp and sealed the shit out of everything I can see with silicone and filled her back up and burped her. Hopefully this is the last time I have to do this.

They are the same and I have it in my car already. Why do you even bother ask a question if you're going to answer it your self any way or is it that you feel like you know every thing (Itr206).

Uhhhh becuase when I asked before and searched EVERY other post on SF everyone said its diff. And Even Champion Toyota said it was a different pump.
Pardon me , but I was reciting what I have been told on many other occasions

Any modifications needed to drop the 2J one it? Or just direct drop in plug and play type thing.

Glad it sounds like it's fixed. But, if you end up needing a 2j pump, I got a brand new one with brand new greddy pulley for 200 shipped. Ron

I saw that. Thanks ROn. Im gonna see how the silicone does. Its not leaking yet 2 weeks later which is a good sign. I honestly think it was the clamp on the hose not clamping tight enuff, but I went off with a tube of silicone.
If it shows any sign of leaking , Im gonna hit you up
